That's not serious from my point of view, at least there should be some service records from a well reputated garage.

I really wonder where the spare wheel ended since nobody can use it for another car...

When I sold my Jalpa the new owner got the spare wheel, complete tool/Jack kit, owners manual, warranty manual, just like the car was delivered.
When I bought the car it had no owners manual, I bought one on ebay and gave it of course with the car when it left.

Seems that honest guys are a rare species in car dealing
My experience with dealers is: DO NOT TRUST ANY OF THEM!!!!

in the wild west they sold lame horses now they sell lame cars as perfect ones, but in the wild west they were hung...

George, nobody buys these cars without a PPI and a test drive. i understand insurance regs ect. i have had 3 ferraris and 2 lamborghinis in the last 18 months.

as far as " doing my homework", how can i do any homework on a car that is several states away. i owned and just sold a 1985 Jalpa vin *12250* . these cars are different car to car depending on care band milage. you should know that as an almighty dealer and collector.

be aware that i am posting all of this publicly as fact on three message boards. i find your conduct to be dissapointing. if you really had a buyer that failed to get finacing as you said, then you should jump at someone who has owned and worked on a Jalpa and has cold hard cash in hand.

i wish you well with your new Ford GT and i hope you get what you desire for the Jalpa on Ebay. i assure i would buy the car on the spot as long as i found nothing major wrong with it. the car needs a good 20 minute drive on public roads to get up to temperature to see what it needs. the fact that you wont allow this is ridiculous. you either have something to hide, or you have very poor customer care skills. all car dealers have minimum basic insurance. my policy through Hagery for my 911 Carrera or my State Farm policy would cover me either way no matter what i drive.

Michael Morett 912

this was the last email to him that he is replying to. all i said was i felt he had something to hide by his conduct. he is a well known dealer and service dept. why would he treat ANY customer this way. how does I HAVE CASH not translate??? no wife to ask, no kids to feed, ect ect. and i am known inthe community for the other 2 lambos , 2 911s and 3 Ferraris i have had, by pics and vin numbers. look at the Cross Reference threads i have posted on Jalpas AND Urracos.

i am not a " poser ", nor am i a "Player" to him .

These are important parts that you left out? Please try and be totally honest from the beginning. Honestly, I would not even respond back to your email if it was sent to me. You are saying that only you would work on the car. He offered you his lift and tools to check it out yourself and offered to have someone else drive you around. He never said that you had to buy it without looking at it or driving in it. So in the future please try to include all information.

However reasonable, I think this was the statement that rubbed the dealer the wrong way.

It appears that the seller has the misguided belief, that because he is honest and has no knowledge of problems with the car, therefore the car is perfect (apart from the few missing parts mentioned).

Maybe a follow-up email would be worthwhile with a list of specific questions of the condition of the costly to replace or repair components, such as compression and/or leak-down numbers, camber angles (non-adjustable and therefore an indicator for chassis straightness), dents and door dings, paint on a scale of 1 to 5 and many more questions.

At $18k I am sure there will be a buyer unaware that he is taking a risk, only later to curse the “quality and bad design” of a Lamborghini Jalpa, because it doesn’t run well and eventually hide it in a garage until eventually selling it in the same condition.

Personally I like to see a Jalpa in “safe hands”.

I agree with that, but we can't save the world, only the Community members that ask for our help & expierience & expertise.

There are very few Jalpas & a good one is a Great Car, but a Bad one is a nightmare.

It's better to be patient and VERY careful with some of these older cars.

If the guy doesn't have any records that pretty much tells the story right there. My Guess is, He tried to do all the work himself, because he really couldn't afford the car and accomplished little to nothing in the way of progress. He then took it to Evans & when he got the estimate to make things right put a For Sale sign on it.

Let's not get crazy here!

I think I know George as well as anyone else on this board just based on the amount of money I've spent, (wisely I might add) for his expertise and honest approach. Lot's of crooks out there! Most are wearing suits, not work blues.

The simple fact is: George doesn't want the car off his premises and you can't understand this. The guy offered you his shop and tools to have someone go there to do the PPI. This isn't unusual.

If I were to sell my car tomorrow, I wouldn't let it out of my sight for one second. Even to get washed at another shop would be out of the question. Let's get real. This is a $33,900 car. If you took it for a quickie and got into a small accident George would be sued for five times that amount...by you I might add.

Shut up and send the guy there to do the PPI if you really want the car.

George is a stand-up guy. Nothing you said in this thread has changed that fact. How's this. If George certified this car, I will back-up any guarantee he gives you. That's how honest I think George is.

SI , I agree with you completely. I think people are looking at this from two different perspectives. I don't think anyone is questioning George's integrity (at least I hope not) from my perspective what's in question is the car.

Honestly to avoid these exact types of problems I had any car I had for sale flatbedded to a competitor just so I wasn't caught in the middle of a tempest in a tea cup, exactly like this one.

Communication is sometimes an Art & a Skill and not everyone is good at communicating, I'm as guilty or more quilty than most of forgetting to count to 10 before I reply to some things that tick me off. From what I can gather here there is more of a communication problem than a people problem? Maybe I'm missing something?

Please stop saying a Jalpa is a 18-20k car. Good lord. The guy is asking 33900 not 18. I would buy the thing sight unseen from George for 18!
