In the US on the Discovery cable channel tonight will be the Lamborghini episode with a Miura, Countach and Gallardo. It is a fun show from the UK/BBC.
Here is the Discovery Channel Link. It is on at 10pm. I hope they get a 6 speed to review. Some UK viewers must've seen this episode... |

I video taped (old fashioned memory device) this episode when it was originally broadcast in Oct '03. Wait for the dumb-ass statement from Clarkeson at the end of the Gallardo track test, it's a gem! Also, the lap time was in the wet (standing water everywhere) but they don't mention that on the results board, nor have they ever amended it since. What do you mean I'm only bitter!
And I always thought it odd that the show included a piece on the LM002 but not the Diablo, the best selling car the factory ever made. Anyway, enjoy it as a bit of entertainment but bare in mind that the show's cars were loaned by Lambo Club UK members and most felt that episode didn't do justice to the Raging Bull. |

Watched the Gallardo segment last nite. Seemed like the show is pointed at adolescents. The front man has a serious slant for Ferrari affecting his judgement. Sad excuse for a reason to drive a Gallardo(just to compare it to Ferrari). Would have been much more interesting to watch the G and a F go head to head than to watch segments of acceleration and braking while listening to tripe. Did anyone else catch the scissor door decahedron comment! What was that supposed to mean?

Emilio, first let me say I love your car and respect your opinions, but I have to disagree with you here...... They put down every car that Lamborghini made...well at least the "Staple" models ie. Countach, Miura, Gallardo. So much for the "Tribute". Complaining that he couldn't parallel park a Countach? Needs a friend to help him step on the clutch? and of course the rear visibility. What a bunch of pussies........All they like are Ferrari (oh, and the mazda rx8 is "the best car they've driven all year"). The footage was good because I always love to see new film of the cars on the road, so I guess I'll just watch it with the sound turned down, because I'm not interested in what they have to say...
Was your version translated or did you just like the footage? |

I watched the whole thing last night and saw no mention whatsoever on the Diablo or the Murcie. How could you call it a Lamborghini episode and not have those two cars. Then to test the Gallardo on a soaking wet track and compare the times to cars tested on a dry track was bogus. Some good footage of the few cars represented but overall the episode was a letdown.

i love the hard cars, they are much more intoxicating than modern cars for me, the gyrl who drove the countach is a bentley fan, he loves the bora... and is the worst guy to drive this car... comments on miura are also 50% truth, but they recognise the incredible impact the car had in supercar evolution and the beauty of the line but the way they make their comments is funny for me, it's ironic talking and i like it very much, more i have to say some comments on lambos were not completely wrong, as difficult parking, smells of petrol ....not that these things could stop me from buyng one and last thing: you are right, i 'd like it even without sound....only for watch all these amazing cars Last edited by emilio : 09-16-2005 at 01:04 AM. |

I can’t believe how badly they bashed the Countach. Heavy clutch, smell of petrol (there’s something wrong if he smells petrol), small windows, can’t parallel park it, uncomfortable seats, he’s hot (note that he had a JACKET on!)…jesus, did he want an exotic car or an Accord?
I also thought driving the Gallardo in the wet was bunk. I thought it would be a better show than it was. I will have to agree that Lambo does not have the racing heritage of Ferrari and a lot of people see that as a negative. I also think the Audi take over, while great for consumers in one sense, has taken the luster off the “Italian” car. Case in point, he first time I saw a Merci, I was looking it over and saw that the seatbelt anchor points have an adjustment latch on them…just like my minivan! |
