Default World's rarest Lamborghini sold

In a history making sale, the one-off Lamborghini Bertone Miura Roadster been purchased by an American collector. Lamborghini's Miura is considered the most beautiful and arguably most desirable post-war sports car built for the road. A mere 762 Miura's were produced between 1967 and 1973.
The ultimate specification P400SV now commands prices of up to $800,000. In 1968 Lamborghini's factory produced a single Miura Roadster, designed by Bertone for the 1968 Brussels car show. The prototype car was later exhibited at car shows throughout the world, before being sold to the Boston Museum of Transportation. It remained there for many years, after which it was owned by various prominent collectors. Although demand for a production version of the Miura roadster was overwhelming, it remained a one-off.

Now, worlds only factory Lamborghini Miura convertible has been purchased by Adam Gordon, a New York real estate developer and car collector.
Mr. Gordon intends to restore the car to its 1968 Brussels Salon former glory.
Gary Bobileff, the preeminent Lamborghini restoration specialist, has been engaged to undertake the project.
The ground-up restoration of the Miura Roadster will require approximately two years, after which time it will undoubtedly be one of the rarest and most valuable classic cars in the world. Bobileff says.

Joe Sackey, Lamborghini historian and author of the soon to be released book entitled Lamborghini Miura, comments "This event is automotive history in the making. Consider that Ferrari's ultimate GTO is valued by some in excess of $12 million and even though they have competition heritage, 39 were supposedly made.
The Miura Roadster is a true one-off, by comparison, and even though it is not competition inspired, its heritage is that of a "prototype show car" perhaps even more valuable to some collectors."

I would say the Countach 1120001 is at least so rare...

But this car is not on the market since I managed to bring it to the factory museum.

Default Super-rare Lamborghini finds a new home

For the 1968 Brussels Motor Show, legendary design house Bertone took the wraps off of the Lamborghini Miura Roadster. The Miura, one of the earliest exotic supercars, was first unveiled at Turin in 1965 with a body designed by Nuccio Bertone, so who better than him to chop off the roof? Like other Lambo roadsters since, the Bertone Miura was really more of a targa, only while the modern-day Murcielago Roadster's roof might be a pain and a half to put up, at least it has a roof. Bertone's Miura Roadster never had one at all.
While the design was copied by many, only one authentic example was ever produced. The roadster version of the Miura never saw production, and the prototype was sold to a metal consortium as a publicity showcase. It changed hands several times since then, at one time joining the collection at the Boston Museum of Transportation. Now it's fallen into the hands of one lucky collector by the name of Adam Gordon, who recently purchased the prototype raging bull for an undisclosed sum. The New York real estate developer is undertaking a two-year restoration project to bring it back up to original spec.
You can bet Gordon paid big for this car, hailed as the rarest Lamborghini of all time, and will have spent even more by the time the restoration is complete.

as already said, all prototypes were super rare, this car is special because Bertone sold it and never bought it back.
F.e. the bravo was repainted green and registred in Switzerland, thanks god they bought it back and she's now in the bertone museum.

But the most important thing that caused this abnormal price: it's a Miura!

Default Hey!

I remember seeing this car in a Hemmings ad! It was a summer 1988 issue I believe, right before the values of miuras skyrocketed. I was only 15 at the time, and it was the first Lamborghini I fell in love with. I have been tracking miura sales ever since!

This particular miura was being offered for $150,000 which was about the price of a "#2 condition" SV at the time. A regular p400 for about $55000 was also in the issue. I remember a lot of miura spyder conversions on the market as well. I've never seen a spyder conversion since the early 90's. Were they shunned for their unoriginality?

I noticed that the late 80's car boom is coming back, but instead of the Daytona hitting $1million, it is the Miura.

Funny you say that...WHAT kills me on this as that I was in negotiations with the owner and his sister, the owner had the car at his home in France along with several other cars. He is really a F car guy and recently got this when he bought two F-cars, kind of a you have to take this to get those deal...

Anyways, he wanted to sell it prior to his 50th B-day or he would keep it...I got up to 750K, he got down to about 800K...thats as close as we got, then, 35 dyas latter....

BAM SOLD for over 1 million...!!

Thank god I had all the GUNS removed from my home a few years back HA HA HA

Oh well, again its worth to someone whats it worth...

Actualy the first time I read the title of this thread I assumed it would of been Roy who was the buyer.

1 million is a bit much for a car no mater what the car may be, but then again if I had all the money that some of these other people had I may think differntly
