Default Lamborghini set to burn rubber on Indian roads



Italian sports car maker Lamborghini today rolled out its super luxury hot cars: 'Gallardo' and 'Murcielago', that cost over a crore, In India.

The company has already sold 6 cars in India (2 of them delivered) and hopes to finish the year with 10, Stephan Winkelmann, president & CEO of Lamborghini, said.

"We come to India not by chance but with a plan. The Indian economy is growing and so is the list of billionaires and millionaires, which makes it an attractive and important market for us," he said.

Winkelmann said as the Indian economy grows so does the capacity of people to buy luxury cars, the company hopes to sell as many as 50-60 cars per year in the country, rapidly developing infrastructure also being one of the positive factors.

The Indian market has seen a flurry of cars priced over Rs 1 crore hitting the roads recently, including Maybach, Bentley Arnage and Rolls Royce Phantom, to name a few.

With its debut in India, Lamborghini will make available 3 of its latest international models - the compact two-seater sports-cum-luxury Gallardo, the convertible 'Gallardo Spyder' and the Murcielago, which is a two-seater, two-door coupe (with gull-wing doors).

While the Gallardo will sport a price tag of Rs 1.65 crore, the Gallardo Spyder will cost a coll Rs 1.85 crore. However, Murcielago would be the hottest wheel, carrying a hefty Rs 3 crore price tag.

ive seen an episode of jeremy clarksons motorworld where he went to india and every motorist there is absolutely mental.-thousands of deaths a year come from road accidents if i remember correctly

driving there is virtualy asking to die. people hitch rides on top of cars, trucks, & buses i wonder if we will see people triying hitch a ride on top of lambos now!!......and not to mention that state of the roads which are way less than suitable for supercars!.....but im sure there are some good roads there

Sounds like it's going to be good replacement business for Lamborghini. From scooters to 500HP overnight.
