Thumbs up Lamborghini Quadruples Profits in First Half of 2007

Volkswagen Group-owned Lamborghini reported a record pretax profit $36.1 million (26.4 million euros) in the first six months of 2007, outshining the entire 2006 record profit of $24.7 million (18.1 million euros). Lamborghini delivered 1,239 cars during the period, a 30% increase over last year, while total turnover rose by 61% to $346 million (253 million euros).

In a statement issued on July 27, Lamborghini said that "the company came one step closer to its target of being the most profitable super sports car manufacturer in the world" although it certainly faces fierce competition in terms of profitability, particularly, from Porsche. According to Autonews.com, Lamborghini cited "improved brand recognition, an expansion of its dealer network and a young and attractive model range ... including the Gallardo Spyder and the Murcielago LP640" as the key developments contributing to the record profit.
Today Forbes reported that Lamborghini will expand in eastern Europe and Asia as these new markets, according to Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann "have the potential to replace the US and western Europe as our biggest market." Winkelmann expects China to be "one of Lamborghini's five biggest markets three or four years from now."

Way to go Lamborghini. I just wish if Lamborghini was an independent company.

No question Audi has done a great job financially, and it couldn't have been done with an independent company. The only way is cross platforming and parts sharing. That's the down side.

I dont know about a down side, certainly being individual has its prestige, but overall the reliablity and availabilty of parts and service is what everyone would rather have. imo of course.

Great, you know all that parts for older models are hardly available and when then they are damn expensive, that's the other side of the coin...

So this means Diablo and Countach prices will go higher and higher.
Does any body know how many Gallardo and Murcielago were made?

Not to tick off Gallardo owners, but just to examine the business strategy and the "quadrupling of profits", what is most commendable is that Audi is able to use non exclusive German made mass produced parts and then leverage the price at over $250K using the Lamborghini name. This more than anything else is what is impressive. However I could never take the bait on this marketing tactic.

I believe it is exciting that the Lamborghini brand is doing so well. In my business I have heard alot of statements made by other affluent car owners, dealers, etc. about Lamborghini as an inferior brand. So I am pleased to hear this news.

Here in Japan, Lamborghini is regarded as the king of the supercar brand.
Serial manga called Countach is appearing in Weekly Young Jump so younger people know about Lamborghini well

I think because of the Hip-Hop culture, Lamborghini has become more profitable and mainstream! Just like the same thing the hip-hop culture did for cristal.
