If you stop to think for a minute you will remember that almost as fast as the price of the "LP640" was released that all used Murci when up 10k almost over night. I'm sure you'll see the same thing with Gallardo. Further when Murci Coupe received her "facelift" it was another 6 months till we saw a Roadster, So get ready to wait for Spyder. Have placed your order with your store? When they show the car it do VERY WELL.

Richard - you would have a much better idea than I - how many more Gallardo's are manufactured compared with the Murci? Since the G is the closest thing Lambo has to a production car, wont the higher relative volumes call that comparrison into question? I know its not the same, but higher production volumes are killing me on my Vantage - its the first real production car AM has made and over-supply (in addtion to other reasons) is costing me 30% depreciation in 12 months. I'm fully prepared to accept the normal depreciation of owning an exotic...I'm not buying it for an investment, but I just don't want to throw good money after bad.

I don't think you can compare the Murci to the Gallardo. I believe the Gallardo, especially used '04's and '05's will drop once the LP550 shows her beautiful head. I don't see how they can go up, unless the new Gallardo is a complete and total mess.

I think the 'lp550' will start at over 200k !!; therefore anyone who wants a used Gallardo will think 140k looks just fine for a nice pre-owned example. It's still is a Lamborghini.

Not EVERY one will want to "shell out" the extra money. When LP was released the price increase drove the used segment up, because the demand for "used cars" went up. A lot of people said "I'm not paying that!" Search some "old threads" you'll see what I'm talking about. Yet they did and are selling.

Again it's just my "opinion" but from past track records this is what I see.
It won't be the first time I'm wrong! But what do I know?

You make an interesting analysis which I am tempted to agree with. Only thing that makes me hesitate is that there are so many Gallardos out there (as raymond says, about 5000). However, your logic seems sound.

There may be an initial drop as dealers, etc. try to move off the older cars, but after this prices might go up. Conversely, the new higher price of the Gallardo lp550 might make a slightly elevated used price seem more attractive, allowing used car sellers to ask for more.

I have no idea for certain.

I agree, its looking this way already. Prices on used MY07 G Spyders seem to be going up recently with increased prices on the MY08 Spyders. I hope it goes that way at least... to possibly serve as motivation for some...

Default Lamborghini Gallardo LP550 to debut with new face, more power

Inside Line reports that Lamborghini will unveil an updated Gallardo at Geneva, and that, like its big, bad MFer of a brother, the Murcielago LP640, the "baby" Lambo will get an addition to its proper name. The Gallardo LP550, as it's expected to be called, will now deliver 550 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque from its 5.2L ten-cylinder (up from 5.0L). Fully restyled front and rear fascias will reportedly adorn Sant'Agata's latest monument to hauling ass, too. Under that new skin sits a stiffer architecture, a lighter all-wheel-drive system, and updated versions of the car's manual and sequential gearboxes. Naturally, all this will come at a price, so look for the Gallardo's $180,000 sticker to rise accordingly. We don't foresee Lambo shoppers letting that stop them from pulling out the 'ol checkbook, and we'll be on hand in Geneva to see the newest bull enter the ring. Thanks for the tip, Mike!
