Default 2006 Car show New Grand Torro

What do think of the new Grand Torro that was presented at the Detroit 2006 auto show? Why?

I like Viktor's work. I've seen earlier work he's done on Car Design News.
For example, his futuristic "Fast and Furious" Corvette street racer
with the external brake calipers. Also his more recent Audi yacht and
submarine ideations and designs - very cool! Both very different and
interesting ! Kind of a trademark of Viktor's work !

So on the Grand Toro:
The 5 hole Lambo based wheel design is HUGE and looks shocking.
Almost like it's too much. But Lambos are synonomous with shock value -
that's one reason we love em. I guess I like it more than not like it.

That wheel design however is not a derivative of the current Lambo streetcar
wheel designs. Plus the rage these days, seems to be to put black or dark
wheels on the cars to make them look more sinister. Look at the LP640
prototype wheels. Each wheel looks like a black whirlwind of flying
scimitars !

The body of the Grand Torro is simple and clean. It is an attractive
design to me and a respectable Lambo offroad vehicle. It is kind of a traditional dune buggy shell with Lambo graphics. The accentuated down-
turing drivers windows like on the Diablo. Headlights reminiscent of the
Gallardo. Taillights similar to the Gallardo. Nice integration of those
features.

But the shell doesn't have the same shock value as the wheels/tires. Maybe
that's a good thing to tone the wheels down a little. Remove the wheels
and it is less shocking Lamborghini though.

So I'd like to kick up the design a little. This is a good design but it
is evolutionary.

How about something revolutionary!

Just throwing out some ideas here.

Maybe something for offroad vehicles that is as revolutionary as what the
Tumbler in "Batman Begins" did for tanks !

Remember Lambo has a tradition in offshore racing, tractors, exotic
autos. Their world is the interface between ocean and sky (offshore -
these things actually like to fly a little), earth and sky (exotic cars -
with less of a penchant to explore the sky as they like to keep the cars
on the road - but who says you have to do this), and the
earth (offroad -tractors).

The Lancia Stratos is a nice design that looks good offroad as well as
on the road.

i think it looks cooool.

but it looks like u will need a running jump just to get inside the thing!
also the way the body sweeps low makes it look like theres not much space inside.

i agree with scramjet the wheels are bloody shocking

overall though its defintely extreme & as a concept i think its wicked

that thing looks awesome.

needs a tad more "bomb-proof" value though, ALMOST THERE!

oh yeah, it looks to be like the front is designed to look like a bull with horns.

Default Not bad

It's definitely a cool design - whether or not we'll see anything like this is another question. Considering the success of the Porsche Cayenne and BMW's X5, it might not be such a ridiculous idea. They just have to do it right.
