From Edmunds, Link at the bottom:
SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy — The four-year-old Lamborghini Gallardo looks set to benefit from a raft of developments created by parent company Audi for its newly introduced R8. According to the head of development at Audi, Ulrich Hackenberg, the R8 will donate its rear suspension and a number of other unspecified components to the Gallardo as part of a mid-life face-lift planned for the midengine two-seater in 2008. Despite their outward differences, the Gallardo and R8 are based around a common set of mechanical components, making the proposed changes relatively inexpensive. The new rear suspension, a development of the Gallardo's existing double-wishbone setup, adopts a trailing link within its design that's claimed to provide added toe-in effect for what Hackenberg describes as "more controlled cornering." Hackenberg, who has recently been chosen to oversee new-car development at Volkswagen, says the new arrangement will be tuned to suit the Gallardo's more sporting nature, with unique bushings and anti-roll bar rates helping to set it apart from the R8. Other developments rumored but not yet officially confirmed for the face-lifted Gallardo include a new direct injection system for its 5.0-liter V10 engine. Among other fine tuning, it is expected to help boost the Sant'Agata supercar's reserves from today's 520 horsepower up to around 550. Such a system is already used on the R8's 4.2-liter V8, which produces 420 hp. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=119343 Hopefully we will also get the much rumored improved interior. |

NOT better. Just bigger bragging rights. What gets me is how it fly's in the face of usefullness. More traffic, and more untrained, unqualified owners. Maybe 1% of owners track their cars so where and how is one to use this power? Only in the mind of an over testosteroned 16 year old comparing the latest performance ratings in Car and Driver I'm affraid....(Oh yeah I used to do that
) The insanity of it all is that even econobox cars start all their advertising with HP ratings as if that's the first thing on peoples mind...Then it goes on from there. I guess you've got to stay way ahead of a Toyota Camry. Throw in auto safety, energy conservation, etc. At worst it's total irresponsibility from the car makers. I don't get it, but maybe I'm becoming an old fuddy duddy Will be interesting to see just when they cap it off though |

They should come up with another new name for their next supercar, murcis been around lil too long now..dont u think guys. how about FERRUCIO as the name of next lamborghini, make it around 700. that would be a nail in the coffin of ENZO..hahaha...

The thing with the power is that most people have no idea at all how to drive, and also how to derive pleasure from driving, so they just buy cars with humungous power numbers.
