Default Questions on Buying a Gallardo

Hi,

Ok, so all my life I've wanted a Lamborghini. I've always been into having nice cars, but mainly for me to enjoy (not to show off to anyone). Anyway, I'm at a stage of my life where I can afford one (financed), but am having a few reservations about it. Also I've read a few things about it being a chick magnet, well I'm 26 and happily married, so that's not my intention.

I've read through this forum about all the "I wanna buy a Gallardo" type posts and have read the feedback posted by others.

Anyway, I think driving one will be a lot of fun. But it's owning one that makes me wonder. Firstly are the guys that say they get people leaning on the car taking pictures with their camera phones. And then there are the ones where the dodge neons try to race them etc. I don't mind people admiring the car while I'm filling up gas, but I don't really want anyone having a party near my car while I'm in the grocery store or something.

Then comes the concerns of cost of owning them including fuel economy, the repair and maintenance costs and the insurance rates.

And finally comes the depreciation. If I suddenly decide to trade this car in in a few years, am I going to take a bath?

Originally, I was debating between a new Mercedes CL550 and a 2004-2006 Lambo Gallardo. We do have other normal cars, and this would mainly just be a for fun car. So I decided that since I've always wanted a Lambo, it should be the one I choose as I've always wanted one. But I wonder if that's the little kid in me deciding that and not the rational adult?

If you own a Gallardo, can you give me your advice and experience as an owner of one?

Thanks for your help

Shawn

I will be a proud owner of a Gallardo this summer if everything goes right =). The first post I made on the site was very similar to yours. I test drove my first lamborghini gallardo about 3 months ago, and have been doing a lot of research on it so I think I can answer your questions.

1. Yes its a chick magnet.
2. You don't ever want to park this car out for too long without keeping an eye on it. And yes, expect parties by your car when you get back to it lol.(Advice the dealer gave me: 80% of the attention is good, and 20% of it is bad. There are those people that love the lamborghini and will try to do anything to sit in it, while there are those who can't afford it and will hate you for having one, spitting/scratching it, sad world we live in)
3. From what I have seen the depreciation value of the gallardo is insane. I've seen some go all the way to $140,000.
4. If nothing wrong happens, the average maintenance is $4,000 annually. I forgot to ask the dealer how much a clutch replacement costs, but im sure there are 30 people here that can answer that one =).
5. YOU WILL NOT WANT TO DRIVE ANY OTHER CAR AFTER YOU DRIVE A LAMBORGHINI! I promise you!!!!!! It is a whole different exprience. You feel like you own the road and everything on it. So go out there, test drive one and you won't regret it, i guarantee it!

The best dreams are those you can fulfill now that you've earned it!

You sound a lot like me, Lamborghini's have been a dream for me all my life..well as long as I was old enough to know what thet were LOL.

I'm going to live my dream this Saturday actually when I pick it up and drive it home 1400kms.

I had all the questions you have and they are very valid. If you are like me you will kick your @@s everyday if you don't when you do have the chance, and I'm thinking even if I only have it for a short time at least I can go to sleep knowing that I fullfulled a dream.

We all know that it probably isn't the smartest thing to buy, it isn't an investment. You only live once and you won't know until you try it.

I'll keep you posted as to what my weekend is like, and maybe that will shed some light for you. I do know that the test drive was pretty wild so I think I'm instore for a once in a lifetime experience.

Hopefully you will do the same.

Troy

I slept on it and I think I'll regret not getting one. And no matter what car I got instead I'll always wish I had gotten the Lambo.

Thanks for the help, I think I just needed to hear it from others. I'm going to start looking and hope to find one in the next couple months. I'll post pictures when I do.

There's no better feeling that driving your very own supercar. I have two, a 599 and an LP640 -- which is very stupid and over the top -- but i love it and you will also.

Thanks and thanks to everyone for their help

It's a 2006 Orange G car. You can see it here:

http://www.lamborghinichicagoinvento...d.php?id=L0078

We should be picking it up around the 15th

I have nothing but good things to say about Roy & Lamborghini Chicago. While it looks like we're not buying from Roy @ Cats, he was extremely helpful and I know when I'm ready to sell the car or buy another I'm gonna use him.

And Lambo Chicago have been great as well. I worked a lot with the owner Bill and the sales manager Scott and both of them bent over backwards working with me on the car and answering my newbie questions.

When I get it I'll post lots of pics!!

Looks fantastic, beautiful color, clear bonett, NAV and other great options, low mileage and shows well!

Congrats, I know what it was like to have to wait for it, but it will be worth it. Get some pics of it when you receive it..simply priceless IMO.

I'm really happy to hear that you will be fulfilling a dream just like I did.

Wait till you receive your car and take it out, the world looks totally different.

Enjoy!!!
