Default Perennial 'three dot' dipstick question

Recently got my local authorised service centre to top up my oil, and was surprised to see the level upto the third dot on the dipstick. When i asked the question about the introduction of the second dot, they stressed that it was added due to rear main seal issues on cars that were driven hard (i.e. track days etc). Therefore, cars driven normally were not affected and filling up to the third dot was ok.......Anyone else been told this as I'm not convinced?

Dunno last time I took mine in I told them I thought mine was low and they said it was fine. So I have no idea. I think the dots are just to make the rod look good.

Level should be between lowest and middle dot on early cars. Not the top one - That would be overfilled and (apparently) caused some issues (i.e. lots of oil in airbox, and oil seals to leak).

Mine is an 06, and the Lamborghini main dealer in London (who filled it up to the 3rd dot) is telling me its ok.... They stated that only cars driven very hard or used for track days could have an issue with the main oil seal, and therefore these cars should not be filled past the second dot. Would be good to see something official though.....

Aim for the mid point of those two dots, and you'll be good.

Hey, it could be worse. There could be no dots at all...zero dots. Just a blank dipstick. Then you'd really have a mystery on your hands!

It's the Italian way: if the oil level is near any dot, whether it's the 1st, 2nd, 3rd...it's close enough!

Or there could be no dipstick at all!

I topped my oil off yesterday and I aim for between the 2nd and 3rd hole on the dipstick.
