Default Options....

Hi all,

First post so be gentle

I'm trying to get my head around the available options for a new Gallardo, and whether they're value for money or whether some of them are desired options due to the majority of buyers "requiring" them.

Could anyone with a G list the options they had, what they paid for them (I don't have access to an options list here) and whether they're (in your opinion) worth speccing?

Also, are there options which deny the selection of other options?

Cheers,
Mike.

I like how they list the gas guzzler tax as an option

In all honesty Mike, the cost of the options is negligible compared to the cost of the car, you should get the ones that make you happy. I think the carbon fiber trim pieces are a complete rip off for example, about $8k if I remember correctly, but they look nice and I'd get them again. One thing I really wish I had gotten were heated seats; not having those in a convertible where you want to drive with the top down in winter sucks.

I would recommend the following;

- NAV, it is a really good setup in addition to giving directions on the LCD screen and voice, it also gives you basic directions on the drivers instrument cluster, that allows you to keep your eyes on the road better. Really nice touch.

- Backup Camera, comes in handy

- Heated and electric seats, this includes both seats, lumbar, recline, up/down, front/back

- Branding package, this is Gold Lamborghini logo on the rims, Lamborghini script on the dashboard, Lamborghini Logo in the head rests, Aluminum Sill Plates will gallardo on them.

- Travel package, cup holder, map pocket on passenger footwell and small storage bin in dash on drivers side

In Canada all the 06&07's come with Alarm, Computer, & Lifting System, my dealer also included the car cover and battery tender.

There is also a great page that shows the colours of the cars, I looked everywhere for colours and this was the only place that I found it.

Thanks for the replies guys, i've got a few subsequent questions:

- Vehicle anti-theft - Is this Thatcham Category 1? or even a Tracker?
- Coloured brake calipers - what's the state of the calipers without colouring? matt/gloss? black or other colour?
- Metallic paint - which are the base colours and which are metallic? (I guess I need to stop at a Lambo dealer and get some brochures!)
- 3 Layer colours - is this a sort of "flip" paint? any comments? (because the guys round here who went for flip paints usually have about 7 ways)
- Glass engine cover - that's bloody expensive! worth it??
- Leather exterior?? ermm what??
- Trip computer - are most of these functions covered in the sat nav?
- Universal garage door opener - is this a euphemism for a laser jammer?
- Sport & Track packs - what do they consist of?
- Branding package - i'm not Tom Selleck just yet, so is this discreet? or should I buy the fake chest hair too?

Cheers guys!
Mike.
(incidentally, the reason I ask is because I will be getting the car bought for me and hence want to spec up the options just right and flutter my manly eyelashes at my 28yr old female millionaire friend who bet me a roughly £100k car that she'd be a millionaire before me )

lol, tell your friend I'll bet her too and she'll beat me immediately. I'll take mine in Verde Ithaca

Anyway...

The “Branding Package“:
Lamborghini script on dashboard
Lamborghini logo in relief on the head rest
Colored logo on the wheels

Glass engine cover - I love this one. If mine wasn't going to have it, I would probably look into adding it. You can see the engine from the outside of the car. Here's a pic of it...

The on board computer - System that displays Average Speed, Average Fuel Consumption, Instant Fuel Consumption, Trip Distance & Trip Time. - I don't think the sat nav includes those.

The sport includes - Sport Suspension (dampers & springs - no change in ground clearance), engine air filters and suede steering wheel.

The track includes - Sport Suspension, suede steering wheel, power steering cooler, heat deflectors, air filters, sport tires on titanium wheels in addition to standard wheels.

If it were me and out of the options you listed below, I would get...

Sat/Nav
Onboard computer
Clear Engine Bonnet
3 Layer Color - (Orange or Green)
Garage Door Opener
Branding Package, Maybe

Then again, if I had a millionaire friend footing the bill, I'd get all of em

The onboard computer is a real bitch to use; I still haven't figured it out, guess I need to read the manual.
