Default It's finally here, first impressions: satisfaction & Frustration

It has finally arrived today.

1) The first surprise it is a 05 model, not 04 as I originally thought. The manufacturing date on the door panel states Dec. 2004. That makes it a 05 model.

The cheered me up a bit. I think 05 is better somehow than 04.

2) I hate to admit it but I’m not able to drive it properly! It snaps when changing gears, there's a sort of pause (no power delivery) between gears.

Is there like a technique for driving this thing? The only way I found out so far is to get off the throttle when changing gears. That makes the gear changing smooth, but not quick! How do I drive it fast???

3) How do I put the gear in Park?

4) No Navigation CD: Is that something I could copy, or does it have protection?

Car looks great, I love white Gs. It just takes some getting used to, but as for parking I put it in nuetral by pulling both E gears levers at the same time then just pull up the parking brake. And also I do believe you can update your Navigation

Hey ISFFF,

Congrats on the new ride! Regarding your gearing when in 1st dont feather it, and when changing gears there is no need to take your foot of the pedal. The harder you are on the pedal the faster the shifts are. Lamborghinis dont have a "P" (park) mode. Pull on both the paddle shifts to put it in neutral, pull the hand brake, and turn it off or turn it of in 1st gear and pull the hand brake.

Thank you and enjoy her in good health.

Kind Regards,
MRajeh

It's hard not to feather it in first. I guess it will take some time to get used to it. I just can't tell the exact pressure I need to apply and I keep feathering the pedal.

3) How do I put the gear in Park? Neutral is the best bet, you can leave in gear and pull hand brake but if the battery dies it will be an issue

Congrats on the car and enjoy in good health! Some tips above in red.. btw how have the looks been?

Hey Guys,

ISFFF, itll take time getting use to it. Dont floor it! I use to put it in "N" and rev to get use to the pedal reaction.

Thank you

Kind regards,
MRajeh

Congrats on your purchase, I love white Gs.

1) Your car is an 05 if the VIN begins with ZHWGU11S05 (11th digit is the MY)

2) I have the same feeling with mine but but coming from an IS-F as you are from your username, the gearbox is quite a huge step backwards. I tend get off the throttle to change from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd as it feels smoother. Changes to higher gears is smoother even with the throttle wide open

3) There is no park, it is a manual gearbox with automatized commands. The owner's manual recommends to leave it in 1st gear when switching it off but I prefer to stay in neutral. It makes the car beep when switched off though

4) No protection but I never found one online and not fully compatible with the Audi RNS-E it is based on. There is not much option appart getting it from the dealer or one of the vendors on here.

When taking off from a stop light, allow the cars in front of you to get a couple car lengths ahead so that you don't have to feather the gas. These cars like a firm throttle which allows the clutch to engage with minimal slippage. And don't let up on the gas when upshifting; I never do and that's in compliance with what the owner's manual says. And when parking, I simply shut the engine off in 1st gear, and, unless I'm on a slope, I never engage the parking brake. Which brings up a question I've had and which omar above addresses: namely, if the battery goes dead when you're in gear, what kind of problem, if any, arises when they're trying to winch the car up onto a flat bed tow truck? Anyone?
