Default "Hill Assist" on e-gear question

The Hill Start Assist on our 2012 G comes on for only a second or so after lifting foot off the brake.

With no foot on either pedal, the Hill Start Assist releases in about 1 second, and the car then rolls backwards while in 1st gear.

Is this normal, or should it hold the car on the hill indefinitely?

It is a short hold however mine is at least 2 or 3 seconds. That is normal or at least it was about the same in my 08. Let's see what others say.

Mine is a few seconds as well on a 2011 LP-550. Plenty of time to get on the throttle before any rollback.

It sounds like yours is shorter than normal.

I don't think my 2005 has it.

I think it should be at least 2 or 3 sec. I'm sure there must be a way to have it adjusted. Perhaps a call to your service dept.

Great, that answers the question.
The main thing is that it does release at some point, and that is what I was trying to ascertain.

Thanks for the good info you guys!

Yes. It does release after a few secs. Normal.

(although mine seems to 'hold' for about 3-5 seconds.)

I usually try to time it so that I'm stepping on the throttle just as it releases, thus reducing clutch wear/drag.
