Default Gallardo coming into my life..i can smell it...

im 29 and make a decent living. I am married and own 2 properties. Still paying around $3000/month on them.

I have no major credit card debt.

Make around 50k-90k per month right now. I work my a$$ off but it is all worth it !

Looking to buy/lease a G. 2004-2006. WHat would be the best way to do this? buy it? lease it?

Also, is it true the warranty on the G is only for 2 years? can extended warranty be purchased? when are the maintenance checkpoints?

i love you all, soon to be part of the family!

As far as I'm concerned: welcome, though I think: someone who makes that kind of money is (or has an accountant who is) smart enough to figure out whether to buy or lease??

I wish !.. I am into computers and design.... the hard, cold numbers calculations I hate and yes, my accountant handles it but I decided to ask here instead of asking him

Welcome. Oh, this could be dependent on so many things. Whom said the famous quote "Not all things that can be counted count, and not all things that count can be counted"? But, if you do want to look at it from a #'s perspective:
1. Are you finicky? Meaning, how often do your tastes change - and how long do you plan to keep it?
2. How many miles would you drive it (it is understandable that the answer to this could change dramatically AFTER you obtain the car - don't discount the urge to drive it 200 miles a day, just for the hell of it).
3. Is depreciation that important to you?
4. Depends on the state you live in, but most only charge taxes on the amount of vehicle you plan to use; i.e., when you lease a car, you pay taxes on the total of your lease payments at the end of term, rather than the entire purchase price of the vehicle.

Lease vs buy debate has been haggled over 1000 times on this forum and many others...some people prefer to finance and keep their cash liquid. Depending on where you live usually makes the decision easier. In other words, if you live in a state that collects tax up front and in full, then there isn't much more benefit to lease instead of buy. On the other hand, if your state collects tax on a montly basis as they do in California, then it increases your buying power as you only pay tax up front on the down payment amount and then you pay tax on the monthly payment amount...made with your payment. Naturally, there are added benefits such as write offs, etc...but that's your accountant's job.

Yes it's true that the Gallardo only has a 2 year warranty. Right now there is no extended warranty available through Lamborghini, although I heard this might change one day...so all MY04's and most MY05's are already out of warranty. There is one company that offers some sort of extended warranty but from what I've heard, it's VERY expensive and even more difficult to get a claim approved.

Service can depend on previous owner, driving habits and mileage. The intervals are around 1500, 3000, 7500, and 15k...give or take. Cost is realtive to what the car needs at the time of service.

Early MY04's had some issues and no front lift. 05's were improved and the front lift was standard. MY06 cars had improved gearbox, bump in hp and improved performance/handling (plus the callisto wheels came available in MY06 which were a HUGE improvement in the wheel department).

If you're payment shopping then the long term purchase works as lease payments will be for a max terms of 5 years and are usually higher than purchasing. It's all in what works for you. Good luck, and when you're ready, we'd be happy to help you find the right car and set you up with financing.

Thanks for the informative post.

I think a 2005-2006 ( dont want a spyder )with egear is what I am looking for. I also agree, long term financing best suits my needs. I will keep the car for a long time if not forever.

I think a good downpayment plus long term financing would be the best to go. Already called State Farm and they can do $170/month on it.

I am currently looking at this one on Ebay. It is in Florida so it is local to me:
eBay Motors: Lamborghini : Gallardo (item 220227894111 end time May-04-08 06:33:09 PDT)

thanks for all the help.

I agree with your point of view 100%.

1: I cant imagine getting tired of this car. That is why most likely ill finance it and keep it forever.
2: like you said, who knows! the only way to keep a car like this with low miles is to have another beast in the garage to alternate!
3: Not really, the way I see it I will always get something for it when I decide to sell it if ever. The depreciation hit it time spent behind the wheel so who cares.
4- I am in Florida. I am thinking long term financing is good. That way I keep most of the cash in appreciating assets.

Beautiful car on Ebay, hope you get it! I just ordered an 08 Black Spyder and have been mulling over the buyer options, still not sure how I am going to do it yet.

50-90k per month...that must be an amazing feeling.

It sounds like you've already made your decision on financing it and keeping it instead of leasing it.

Enjoy!
