From 2004 Galardo manual...

MAINTENANCE
CLUTCH
Running in (e-gear)
After the new clutch disk installation and the clutch setting by means of La-Ra-AS system, the clutch must be run-in as follow:
First phase:
- Disable the following functions; AUTOMATIC, SPORT and LOW ADERENCE.
- Carry out 5 slow starts in the first gear.
Note
After each start, drive at least 100 m before repeating the operation.
- Carry out a slow start and shift to the second gear.
- Decelerate at a speed of about 20 km/h then, after the clutch releasing sound has been heard, LIGHTLY depress the accelerator in order to avoid
the first gear to be engaged ; Repeat the procedure for 5 times.
Second phase:
- With the vehicle in motion after start up, gradually accelerate up to 6,000 - 6,500 rpm, then decelerate up to 2,000 - 2,500 rpm; repaet this for 5
cycles.
Important!
During the first 100 km avoid fast starts and uphill starts.
Note
The run in requires to drive for about 10 km

Went and talked to a service tech at a Lambo dealer and he informed me that he has replaced 3 E-clutches in one Gallardo within 7000 miles He stated its all about how you drive the car...does anyone know what he is talking about

Was that an official Lambo dealer, or an independent Lambo "specialist"? Did he know about the set-up and calibration procedures described above, or does he just change the parts without further set-up?

As has been stated, fast starts and uphill starts, and reversing I think, are harder on the clutch than any other activity, and apparently can be particularly bad during the first 100km after changing a clutch.

It was an official Lambo dealer and he discussed the set-up and calibration procedures described above.

As stated from some of the coll., don't use "launch control", be careful with reverse, specially on hills (you can burn the clutch in no time), and if you speed, and not race, lift of the throtle a sec. between sifting, this will sub. extend the live of your e-gear

PS, I have found a OEM clutch bilder in Italy, he rebuilds the clutch with Class one mat. (like ferrari/Masi), the cost is about 10% of a new Lambo clutch (and it is the same!)
Does anyone know if someone does this in the US?

Sounds like something was wrong with that car. I'm hardly easy on my clutch and I'm at 5500 miles with no issues so far; I've had the car on the track three times and am pretty hard on it on the street as well.

Just talked to Clutch Masters and they said they've refurbished some Gallardo clutches before. For the price that they mentioned ($1100), this may be another option than buying another clutch. Turn around is about 1-2 days. What do you guys think about this?
