It would be nice if the Gallardo would have it's unique engine. But we must remember that It is the Lambos main moneymaker, so they will have to produce the engine in larger volume.
This is the price Lambo has to pay so it would even exist. Without it we would loose Murcie and that should be unacceptable. Even Murcies engine has no clear future. Rumour is that they will have to introduce a completely new V12 because this one is at it's max (the upcoming power boast will most likely be due to the added Audi FSi technology). And it will be installed in all the future top models.
What we now must pray for is that they don't introduce the W12 as a replacement (although I don't think it's going to happen) It is a good engine and we would got used to it but it would be a shame.

Lamborghini can build engines, they should be allowed to develop, test, and build their own.

Just thinking, putting the gallardo engine in Audi cars probably boosts sales tremendously. I drive a quattro, with a Lambo engine! They made what, a whopping $4Mil euros profit last year? What do you guys think of the R9? I think it's pretty rad.

Lamborghini developes the V12, the V10 is made of Audi components, it's more or less the S4 engine with 2 cylinders more.
That it is identical you can see here: http://www.lamborghini-talk.com/vbfo...ead.php?t=2394
just have a look at the 4 rings on the rod...
As I know the Gallardo engines are produced in Bulgaria or Hungary in a VW/Audi factory and then shipped to St.Agata, only the V12 are built completely in Italy.

Well, in the end it doesn't matter at all, I drove the Gallardo and it's the hell of a good, fast and thrilling car, I would immediately buy one if I hadn't already 6 cars including 2 lambos...

I was told that the engine block and heads are made by Cosworth in UK (as are the Audi RS6 engines), and these are shipped to Audi's V8 factory in Hungary for assembly.
