E-Gear is nice but would still need to keep a manual around.

I always hated the thought of an automatic exotic eventhough i prefer auto cars yes i am a lazy driver. All my ferraris have been manual ones (I don't own a lambo at the moment), but after driving an F1 f430 and a few EGEAR MURCIELAGOS I have changed my mind. egear is awesome, much easier to live with especially in LONDON traffic, and so much fun while pushing the car, and i just love the way the car blips the throttle for you on the downshift. Definitely my next FERRARI or maybe a murcielago will have to have auto gearboxes.

not trying to hi-jack, but I heard from a pretty reliable source that Ferrari actually uses aston martin's paddle shifting technology. Maybe not anymore, but that is what I heard...

I was skeptical but not sure if anyone has heard anything about that

I know for a fact this is absolutely not true! the first Aston with a paddle shift system was the Vanquish whcih came out in 2002-2003. The first Ferrari with a paddle shift system was the 355 in the mid-late 1990's. I owned a
355 and 360, and currently own a 430 and 599 all with Ferrari F1 paddle shift system, and have owned a Vanquish and a Vanquish S so I have first hand experience with both. The Aston Martin paddle shift system is nowhere near as fast as the Ferrari system. The confusion may be that Aston may be purchasing it's systems from the company that works with Ferrari on the Ferrari F1 system (this is simply speculationon my part as to where the confusion came from). The aStons are beautiful cars (fit and finish), but the Ferraris seem to have more spirit.

Thanks for the info.

What I heard was that it came from Aston's racing team. Not the actual unit they have in their road cars.

It didn't sound right to me though. I have heard Ferrari had the best of the bunch but having never driven one I couldn't really say.

I agree with Ferrari having more spirit. Aston has been a little diluted over recent years IMO, looking more and more like a jag. Still a sexy car.
