Default The Audi Gallardo

As I was assaulted due to my last post, let's clear this up. For all you Gallardo owners, have fun with your cars. However, there are more "purist" Lamborghini enthusiasts out there than you know. I happen to be one of them. Remember, even founding father Ferruccio said the Diablo was not a Lamborghini. So, is the Gallardo? Clearly not. It is a German vehicle at its core...it is an Audi. Period. You have to look deep into what Ferruccio meant to understand what this is about. It has little or nothing to do with factory location or nameplate, and everything to do with history and soul. Those who haven't experienced the cars that I have will never understand. All of you Countach/Miura/Jarama/Espada/400gt/Jalpa/Silhouette/Islero/350gt/Urraco owners can back me up here. The Lambo's of today aren't bad cars, they are simply sterile (key word). To start up a Countach and go ripping down the highway is such an unbelievable, insane thrill compared to the relatively "cookie-cutter" Gallardo. Remember I've driven them all. In fact, the Murcielago offers not nearly the thrill of the Countach. Hence, the word sterile. The funniest/saddest thing I've heard in a long time was an 11 year old kid asking his dad "Is that the new Nissan"? as he looked at a silver Gallardo parked in a highway rest area. That truly says it all, doesn't it? Please God, make the Italians buy Lambo back.

I am a "Vintage" Lambo ownder and I have driven the e-gear Gallardo on the Vairano track - in one work - FANTASTIC! I am sure that the SE has been tweaked to even higher standards.

Countach/Miura/Jarama/Espada/Jalpa/Silhouette/Islero//Urraco DURING THE PERIOD THAT THESE CARS WERE PRODUCED BY LAMBORGHINI THE MAJORITY SHAREHOLDERS OF THE COMPANY WERE SWISS, FRENCH, AMERICAN AND INDONESIAN - YOUR THEORY IS A BIT FLAWED..... DIABLO IS INDEED A LAMBORGHINI - NO DOUBT IN MY MIND.

I purchased my first Lambo back in 1983 and have had contact with the factory since that time. IMO Audi has put Lambo back on the map by having product, marketing, distribution and R & D. You can't expect to like every car that Lambo comes out with - I personally would never purchase a Jarama or Islero -

You must also beleive that the last Ferrari was the 330GT - since the late 1960s Fiat has been a partner and subsequently majority shareholder of the F brand.

Alex

why bother to start a topic just to tell people that their car is boring compared to yours. anyone who bought a Gallardo could have bought a few of the cars you mention, but they chose the G.

better off going to a honda forum and telling them their car is boring in comparison rather than disrespecting Lambo-folk.

Have you thought of writing to the Vatican about this?

As the premire Audi basher I happen to agree with Dave in general, but have learned that complaining doesn't get you anywhere. Lamborghini is never going to be the mark it once was so either accept it or bail. As far as the Diablo not being a Lambo, that's just plain BULL! no pun intended. Sorry Ferruccio.

this is a lamborghini ENTHUSTIAST forum, not one for bashing. there is a difference between representing your taste for older models and bashing those who are happy about their new purchases. hands down, with the new engineering, the murci and G, and diablo before it were better cars...

you are completely right, the thrill of driving a CT, or Miura or even Diablo is totally different from driving the newer models....more thrilling perhaps but in a totally different, i dont have AWD and this car could lose it at any second thrilling. thrilling none-the-less, ill agree.

the point is, to everyone his own, but that doesn't constitute bashing. the cars have improved vastly - they are safer, faster, and more reliable - they are more suitable for the world we now live in. the cars are still hand made in the factory, luc has as much love designing as marcello or any others did. the face of exotics and the car industry in general has and is changing, and audi has allowed lamborghini - and subsequently this forum to survive.

my biggest argument for liking the new cars, particularly the G....
I asked Valentino Balboni himself - and he likes driving the G more than any of the other lambos. he has driven everyone extensively - so from a completely drive em, and throw em into a corner standpoint....

we all love lambos here (I hope) and as much as I wish my pops would break down and get a Miura SV....I'm pretty happy with the array he has in the garage at time being. they still get looks, still get ladies, and still just about make me wet my pants everytime i get in them.

cheers

i think saying all post countach models are not real lambos is a non sense

i am a vintage guy and i prefer older models, but imo diablo is a real lambo( no doubt about it)
i have seen finally murcies, gallardos and older cars toegether last saturday in a show and i can tell you what i felt seeing all them side by side in person:

murcie is a real lambo in all aspect( looks, sound, performance, V12 engine):

I LOVE IT AND I WANT ONE, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT

now comes the bad thing, the gallardo affair:
the g car is beautiful, very very fast, a compact size car with otrageous performance and unbelievable limits
it has a good sound to
in few words a rational, beautiful sportcar perfect for current times:
you could drive easily daily without problems and everibody could like it.....probably it is more sensate in real life than the murcie itself
so what's the problem with it?

well, this is not what i am aspecting by a lambo:
my personal idea of a lamborghini is a car that involves great emotions, an uncompromise irrational machine, you fall in love first time you'll see it or you should hate in a glance,
a once a week thrill machine,
a car that make you dream, that make your heart beat faster,
and a car with a BIG personality, that you can't ever mistake for no others
in this way, for me, the gallardo is not a 100% lambo

please don't misunderstand my words. i am not saying this is not a good, well engineeered car, nor that it is ugly or stupid, or that the G leaves me totally indifferent....
only this: i like it, but in the same way i like a maranello or a 360 CS,

i love miura, diablo, countach and now i know i am falling in love for murcie
