Default Advice on Buying a '06 Gallardo SE This Week

I am moving from a Porsche 996TT to a Lambo. I worked my a__ off this year and deserve something cool. I can get a 2006 Gallardo SE (Gunmetal Gray type color/eGear/ Rear Camera, etc.) for about $209,000. Is this a good deal? The new exhaust sounds GREAT.

Or, am I going to wish that I got the Murc.?

I may go in tomorrow... Please help-- thoughts?

That's such a personal question no one can give you good advice on it, but if it were me, I'd buy a used Murcielago, 12 cylinders and already depreciated rather than take a beating on a new model, of course leasing is also an option.

The Murci is a better car from a power standpoint. The thrill is in its acceleration and power. It is also the flagship lambo. Scissor doors and "bad boy" styling.

But if the SE is anything like the regular gallardos for '06 there were some nice options: navigation screen and camera come to mind. You can probably put more miles on a SE. Also, for the same price you need to buy a used murci; with the SE you get full warranty and no stories about the prior ownership. If you are undecided, the "new" factor is usually enough to tilt the decision for me.

So if the look and feel of the SE is better to you (and it would be a tough choice for me as well), the SE is the one.

But if you ever do drive a murci after the SE, you will find there is more power. So it depends on what is more important to you. If the most power is important to you, then it must be the murci. But if you are going to enjoy the car and dont care about that extra power (and most people dont) i think the SE is your choice.

I'd go with the Murcie...and Roy can find you the RIGHT deal...as in close to wholesale price not 1k off retail....The value of the SE is going to drop....when is unknown, but for certain, it's going to hit HARD....I wouldn't want to be 210k into a car I couldn't give away for 160k in a year...just my thoughts....the SE is a cool car, don't get me wrong...good power, sex appeal...it's a Lamborghini.

The Murcie is so much more...speaking only for myself...there are just a few things I think a Lamborghini should have....a wing, a V12, and those DOORS !!! The doors alone tell everyone....yep, it's a Lamborghini !!!

If you can't reach Roy, get ahold of me and I'll get ahold of him for you...the RIGHT car is just a phone call away....trust me, Roy got me my 40th Anniversary Murcie WELL under the best price I could negotiate on my own...

Go with a Murcie, you will NOT be disappointed !!

Thanks guys.

It looks like I am getting an '06 SE with my partner & we are getting either a G Spyder, F 360 Spyder, or possible Murcie Spyder as well (Need a drop top). He is not big on the comfort of the Murcie (we want to drive it a lot). I will talk to him and post a pic of what we get. I agree that the the V12 is pretty mean-- I saw a few at the Crystal Cove meet on Saturday morning.

Thanks for your input.

WOW...I wish I had tough decisions like this to make

You need to drive all 3 first (just because you can hehe a couple of times if they'll let you ) and then buy what you like best!!!

The SE is a great everyday driver with performance beyond the regular Gallardo -- I prefer the Murc myself, but for comfort the SE is the way to go.
