I thought this thread was about 2 vs. 4 wheel drive cars rather than 6-speed manual vs. paddle.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my 2 wheel drive car but have little time in a 4 wheel drive to really give a good comparison. |

Had a previous generation 4wd Superleggera and currently drive a Balboni 550-2. Night and day handling wise. Front end bites and dives in much faster, rear pivots out using throttle modulation and brakes. The car is so alive and responsive compared to the 4wd with the extra weight up front also making the front less lively. Its not that you cant do this in the 4wd, just that it doesnt happen as delicately.
This is like a gt3 versus a Carrera 4. You will feel it on the roads even if you don't track, as the car is so much more alive on the street. To be fair this is comparing a previous generation Gallardo though, with the much less lively engine and previous gen vs current gen egear for me, whereas you are comparing same gen manual. So the differences I feel will be much more marked possibly.

This is my point, 5 years from now every daily driver will have some form of it, so when you go to grab the keys for the weekender you will want a change. So those less than 10% will be highly sought after.

I know which is scarier
I am not a track or driving god, but I decided to get the RWD version of the car as the 4wd versions just felt a bit "heavy" in the steering. I also went with a manual transmission to go really old school (back when you saw someone in a Lamborghini and thought "There goes someone brave..." ) Will lap times suffer for my choices - sure, but 99% of the time it's going to be driven on the road. Just be aware that the back end is much more lively in the RWD car.

Just one more thing to the manual transmission. I remembered it when I read some posts about getting the Balboni edition.
A while ago I read a road test of the LP550-2 Balboni in an american magazine (canīt remember which exactly but I can look it up if someone wants to know). Valentino Balboni himself presented the car and gave the journalist a passenger ride. When they got into the car, Balboni APOLOGIZED for the car being an egear! I think that says it all. |

I'll tell you if it was a DCT and smooth like the GTR I wouldn't have gotten the egear a d would have opted for the manual. But after test driving the egear in corsa and mashing on it (as the sales guy told me to) I was sold!!! The shifts in corsa are really amazing, I enjoy it much more than the GTR tranny, which holds its own. It will be a said day when they move to the DCT.
