I am very close to buying a Lamborghini Gallardo and I would like to hear owner's thoughts as to which is a better drive and more fun...The two wheel drive 550-2 vs the four wheel drive 560-4? I am more of a 3 pedal manual 6-speed fan than paddle shift auto, so I would more than likely order the old fashioned gear box. Please share your thoughts...

I drove both and 550-2 is quicker and more "fun" to drive....but I do prefer the AWD safety/traction benefit.

Having driven both LP560 and LP550 e-gear on a race track... I vote for manual any day!

Never drove a 560, but I love the 550, and the new eGear is a blast. I have always been a manual guy, but my 550 has converted me. I like not taking my hands off the wheel, and with my CF paddle extensions I can shift from anywhere!

It really comes down to personal preference. The 550 is going to have a lighter steering feel too it and feel a bit more nimble and easier to toss around. The 560 is going to be heavier feeling but a lot more forgiving when you toss it into a sharp dive and the front wheels pull you out.
I was always a 3rd pedal guy myself, but for average street driving, the new E-Gear is AWESOME! |

a 550-2 coupled with a manual transmission will be the in-demand Gallardo in 5 years. Better yet, find a manual Balboni....less than 10 made, one is available now. |

Audi R8 stick sucks by comparison, it's way notchier.
550-2 egear track is heaven on earth ... Nothing beats it. You will be a good 2-3 seconds a lap faster than stick (I don't care how good you think you are with a stick, you will be WAAAY slower) |

I know that the e-gear is way faster, all paddle shifting if faster, but I am not tracking the car and I just prefer the 3 pedal manual gearbox from a connectedness perspective with the car. I bought a 2012 Porsche Turbo S Cabrio with the PDK paddle tranny this summer that lasted about 500 miles in my garage before I sold it. I just didn't enjoy not rowing through gears and missed having a manual gearbox. Now, I realize that a G-car is a different animal, but I am just a little old fashioned.
