Default Pics of the heart of the beast

I thought I would share a few pics of the work we performed to the beautiful murci and what makes this car soo As you can see below are pics after the engine/trans where removed from the car. We are taking care of a few issues, and also putting a few goodies on at the same time. Looks alot bigger when its out of the car.

These modern engines are so complex that I sometimes wonder how they can run at all!

Lol, yes I can remember when I use to work on my 56 Chevy 283. How sweet n simple it was! They hadn't even invented the scope yet, of course there was no need to either.

Yeah, Russ. I had a `57 Studebaker Silver Hawk and I used to eat 56-57 Chevys in street drags. Under the hood was an engine, and distributor, a carburator and spark plugs, all in plain view. You could actually sit on the fender with your feet in the engine compartment, there was that much room! Today you can't even see the engine on many cars. Those were the days...or were they?

Recon, I remember the Hawk very well. That was probably one of studebakers best looking cars. Classic design that was ahead of its time.

If memory serves, the 283 did not come out until 1957. The 55 and 56 Chev had a 265 cu in. engine.

You're right Chad! I had a stock 55 stick that was 265, my brother dropped a 283 in my 56. I also had a black 57 Nomad which started my love affair with black.

I'd be really interested in the rear differential photos. I'd like to see the bracketry and casing difference between the regular murci's and the lp640s. Any chance, since its out of the car, you could hook me up with such photos?

Thanks!

Jon
