Default Murcielago Roadster Production

I will be taking delivery of my Murcielago Roadster in december and today i was on the phone with my dealer and he told me Lamborghini will be stoping the Roadster production by april or may next year- Does anyone know anything about this is there any truth to this.
Another question i have is about mounting the soft top; i heard that is very difficult and complicated to mount the soft top; i would like to know what other roadster owners think

The '06 Roadsters are already on the production line with some delivered. I don't even think that they are running production quite as late as May? This is the last of them though, but the "new" 2007 modified-body Murcielago Roadster should be available late in '06....

I have honestly never had the roof on my car....I know that I have seen a practiced roof installer like Roy have it on in a few minutes though. The 2007 is supposed to have some form of (folding) hard top....

The soft top can go on in less than 2 minutes after you have practiced with it........it does not fit PERFECT and you have to keep this in mind as you place it..it works as a puzzel....I can have it off in less than a minute..the problem is if you take it with you you have no room in your trunk for anything else........

As far as the hardtop........

I HAVE seen a picture taken by an unnamed source at the factory.......it is a one piece carbon fiber unit, it has two humps on it, one over the driver and one over the passanger.....it must either go WITH the car or dstay at home, there is no where to store it. There was talk of mounting it in the rear as the 96 through 99 roadster, however they could not design this in a both estic and or mechanical way........the first cost option I that was thrown out there was $8800.00 US. It was also relayed that IT WOULD retro onto the o5 and o6 models, I was also informed that they hope to have it available by February of 06 for ordering.......

I have heard 2007 roadster will have the 6.5L 650-700hp engine. I am also told availability 3Q 2006. Can you confirm it will have the new 6.5L engine?

I guess lamborghini will wait until last minute before announcing this stuff. maybe May/June 2006 we will have full details?

The first time you will want to set aside 30-45 minutes. Plan to spend some time with it, especially since it is a new car it is easy to scratch since the top will be a very tight fit. It will loosen up as you use it and won't be as difficult to put on.

There are some "tricks" that you will quickly learn. It is hard to explain the process, but once you put it together wrong you will not make the same mistake twice.

I carry mine with me, but this leaves no room for storage in the trunk. I put the top on maybe five times. I will take the car to get washed and detailed without the top on.

The new '07 Roadster will be the new body with the new 6.5 ltr engine, but I wouldn't hold my breathe for 3Q '06 -- production will begin then on the new '07 Coupe followed by the Roadster. It is likely that the '07 Roadster will not be produced until well into '07 at the current rate. The intention is to maintain rarity in the Roadster and there is supposed to be a significant production time gap between the old body and the new one. In other words, if you want a Roadster grab an '06 as the '07 won't be around any time soon!

This new Hardtop will not fit on the pre 2007 Roadsters.
