Thumbs up E-Gear on the Murcie

I have a quick question for you all - now that the Bellevue Lamborghini dealership has been announced, I'm locating a Murcie to replace my 575M. During the Player's Run, I kept drooling at the yellow E-gear Murcie ;-)

I have a couple of questions:

How does the Murcie E-Gear compare to the one in the Ferrari 360 or 575M? I have owned both. Is it a similar experiece and feel?

How long should a clutch last in a Murcie? Is there a difference between the E-Gear and 6 Speed in terms of how long it should last? Everyone I know with a Gallardo has had to replace the clutch before 10,000 miles. Is this the same case with the Murcies? Just wondering if I buy a car with higher miles on it, if I should expect to drop another 10k on the clutch when I get it.

Thanks for your help,
Jeremy

I believe F1 and E-gear are from the same manufacturer. Maybe someone can confirm?

E-gear on Murcie will blip the throttle on downshifts. sounds awesome and i believe it serves the purpose of preventing wheel lock-up on downshift (and maybe to also help with acceleration on downshift??)

As for the clutch life, it all depends on how you drive it. take your foot off the brake at the stop light and play with the throttle (creep forward, roll back, creep forward, ...) and you are lucky to get 3,000 miles.

Once you get engaged in first gear, the wear is better than a 6speed. But many people slowly engage 1st gear burning the clutch (you will smell it when you do it wrong) but you probably already know this. basically, identical to the F1.

I thought the Egear & F1's were developed and built by Siemans?

I've seen several owner posts reporting the liked the Egear and I haven't seen any complaints posted so far.

OK J..you dont callme back........E-Gear and F-1 ARE the same manufacture...however differnt software....same HARDWARE.......you can only get a murcie with E-Gear starting in 04 later models.........

Driven CORRECTLY you shuold get 40K from a E-Gear clutch.....

This means,
NO LAUNCHING!!!

Put in to Nuetral at ALL!!! stops.regardless of minor a stop

At first gear depress gas 25%, at engagement depress gas fully
to your speed for quick engagement...no slipping!!!

DO NOT!!!!!!!! downshift from a gear to a to LOW a gear at high speeds....WILL cause slipping

AT start up DO turn your key on...do not turn the motor for about 10 seconds...then start motor in neutral.......run about 10 seconds before engaging

Attempt to use REVERSE as little as possible......start it out in reverse..give gas and pop it into neutral ASAP!!!

And MOST of ALL, do NOT!!!!!...let your foot off the gas when you change the E-gear gears..the computer does this for you!!!! By you adding the deceleration.the computer over compensates...so you RE_APPLY gas...then the E-Gear shifts up and EACH TIME it is like a MINI LAUNCE through each gear!!!!!!!

Happy E-Gearing!!!!!!!!

PS JYOUNG DO NOT BUY from BELLEVUE!!!!!! HAve them Service BUT dio not BUY..........I can get you a way better DEAL!!!! New or used!!!!!

No problems there. I don't do that in my 575M right now.

Ug, so does this mean I can't downshift when I'm coming off of on ramps, etc? I've done that for 8k miles on my 575M and haven't had any problems left. Maybe I don't understand what you are referring to.

This is fine...

So in my Ferrari on the highway, I'll be in 6th gear and downship twice to 4th and step on it. Are you saying not to do this or it will burn the clutch?

Cool...

I have a long driveway that I have to back out of. Hopefully it won't put too much stress on the clutch.

Thanks Roy for the input!

I am saying do not sit at lights or in stopped traffic with the car in gear...put it into neutral....

YOu can shift down all you want...just not beyond the rev limits...I see guys at 90 mph shift from 5th to 2nd........not good!!!!!!

The only wear I could possibly see if i sit in 1st gear with foot on brake is the throw out bearing, but there is no clutch wear. Unless you take your foot off the brake, the clutch is fully disengaged.

Why do you feel it should go into neutral? I know the computer will pop you into neutral after 5 minutes of doing this, but i also know the TO bearing isnt worth worrying about. It will almost always outlast the clutch and you replace it with the clutch anyways
