Default How hard is it to drive a Diablo

I have always wanted one but I have never driven one. Having sat in one it did feel awkward. Can you describe the driving experience.

Visibility is the hardest thing to get used to. Sitting position is twisted to the right just a bit but they are quite comfortable. Some consider no power steering in the earlier models hard to handle when parking. Sitting in an Exotic supercar should feel... well different anyway.

Driving and earlier model on highway is fine, but stop and go traffic...sucks. The clutch and power steering is pretty tough....but I think you eventually get used to it. Visability in your blind spot is really bad...infact you can not see your sides...it's a fun car to drive, but you have to be very aware of your surroundings.

In all modesty, I have very little experience, but driving a Diablo is a piece of cake compared to driving a Countach. That really feels like steering a super powered battleship through a darkened shopping mall. A lot of trial, and no room for error. Lost a couple of pounds in that stroll. I would do it again tomorrow though.

absolutely civilized compared to a countach... But, the steering while good is not as direct as the countach... The clutch is heavy , but after you get used to it is entirely bearable. Not porsche like light , but I actually feel better with the effort to let you know what is what.. you can mistake a porsche clutch for the brake pedal because it is so light...

The last Porsche I drove was a '95 Carrera with a 'standing' (as opposed to 'hanging') clutch, as I recall it was pretty heavy, almost like an F 40, a good work out for the muscles... Seems like Porsche made the car more 'woman friendly' if I understand your post correctly. You're absolutely right about the steering of a Countach being more direct. The car goes where you want it to go (if all goes well...), the Diablo seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes. Hey, that's why we love 'em I guess.
