Hey, good to hear. Maybe we can hook up after you get yours. Motorcars International in Springfield is the closest really authorized place. I know of no one else, that's why I do it myself. There is plenty of help online too.
Do you know of the Black low mileage 6.0 at Motorcars? |

I did see the black one in springfield, I also came across an orange one in Dallas. The orange is pretty unique, any other unusual colors out there? I like Black but I already have a black Viper, a Silver SL55, a Maroon SL500 and a Gray XK8, so I would prefer a color that's very different from anything else I have. I saw a pretty nice looking Blue one but that was on a 1998 made into a 2001, (I'm assuming it had some collision damage to justify the expense), the price was right but it was a 5.7. Anything else?

I had a closeup look at the orange one in Dallas last week. While it looks nice, it's apparently had some damage also. That is no reason to avoid it though for the right price, $200K asking price is too high, maybe $180 is reasonable IMO. Roy has a couple on his site that look to be premo.

While making the usual internet rounds I found a white over red 1991 diablo in Springfield which is not that far away from me. Of course it's 10 years older than the 6.0 and I'm sure there are many improvemnts over a decade. How good or bad are the 1991's? Not worth entertaining? For the half price it's intriguing but I don't want a bad product at any price. Thoughts?

Personally I prefer the older models, they're much more raw, exotic, and aggressive looking. Of course, no power steering.....A good thing except in traffic where you shouldn't be trapped anyway.
, and you hear complaints about the dash being too high...There is a conversion for this though. I know the chain tensioners need to be upgraded, and of course you want to know what the status of the clutch is. Electrically there aren't any major issues, some have spoken about grounding problems, but it's not serious. If you get one well sorted out you'll have less problems than a 6.0 with it's AWD, check engine lights, clutch rod breaking, leaking front shock and just all around sophistication. There is more expertise online with the earlier models since allot of guys have done their own work on them so you'll have good support. I don't know how you feel about wrenching on your car, but some ability and willingness is very helpful. As far as performance, if you plan on just using the car occasionally as a departure from the normal grind of day to day driving, you'll be very satisfied. I've never bought into going the extra mile and expense just for horse power alone. Lastly, an earlier Diablo is fully depreciated, and is the best bargain out there. That's my pitch for an early model, it's all that is Lamborghini, and you'll have allot of money left over just in case you have a nasty surprise, which is always possible with any exotic. |
