Like everything else on the Diablo the lights for the License were as bright as a candle. I replaced mine with the Festoon style LED bulb and now it looks much better as well as updated.
Make sure you test bulb when you install them as they do have a proper way to be installed. If incorrect they will not light, just turn them around and voila .This is the bulb I used 6451 LED Bulb - 12 SMD LED 360 Degree Festoon | Festoon Base Bulbs | LED Car Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs Below is a pic of bulb and installed lights.

As seen in one of my pics you may have noticed a blue gauge in the upper left hand corner, this is called an Ultra Gauge UltraGauge Automotive Information Center and OBDII Scan Tool
It's not very expensive but for what it does it's very cool. You can read it in sunlight and it's illuminated at night. It plugs into your OBDII sensor slot and stays plugged in. It is very slim, about 3/4 of the size of an Iphone, it can read from 2, 4, 6 or 8 gauges to a page, and you can have up to 8 pages. They can scroll automatically or you cna flip through them manually. When you first plug it in you set the Ultra Gauge up once then thats it. It picked up 45 sensors and or gauges in my Lambo that I didn't know I could access like throttle position, mas air flow, voltage, vacuum pres etc etc...it does fuel economy as well as keeps track of when next oil change is due as well as next tune up. It also does all the normal gauges like engine temp, oil temp, tachometer, mph/kmph etc... It comes with a pretty long cord and you can easily mount it anywhere and hide the cord. Also comes with window mounting bracket or you can velcro it on your dash. I tried a few different positions this was the best by far as it does not restrict sight line, in fact you won't notice it after a while. Does one need this in their car, well no but it sure is handy knowing more info than your mechanic lol. It also can erase Check Engine Lights so it states on the manual. For $60 well worth it.

hey are you stealing my topic Roberto ?
))))))I should not post this pic, but it is the only I have. I will continue my Diablo mods later with better pics possibly. I had a terrible time last year with a bad sleeping disorder. Nevertheless, you and me have something in common Roberto, the results are different but we both like to mod our cars, don't we ? A short note about the leds. I think it is better to avoid 90% of the LEDs offered on the internet, as these are mostly having a blueish colour. Maybe it is a matter of taste, but I think since the Diablo is a 90's car, it is better to use warm white colours to enhance the lighting. I also have modified my interior lighting, not the same as you but I have no pics of that now, will post later. I used for that LED-panels that were not available in warm-white 3000K (remember that "warm"-white is misleading, LEDs are never emitting a warm colour) so I painted each LED (40 on the panel) with orange permanent marker to shift the colour temperature. The result is still cold interior light, but the visibility is immense now ! The original lighting is completely useless. Continue later in my thread.. keep up the work Roberto ! Sorry for the bad pic but it gives an idea about the taillights and licenseplate (the brakepedal is not pressed ! but you can see already the difference with original lighting that has a very low light output. I think it is good to be seen better, as the Diablo is already so low, I think it is safer to use higher output bulbs. I think simply replacing the 21W bulbs with ultra high output LEDs would already improve that. Use RED LEDs and not white for the taillight application for highest output) ![]() here is the front

not stealing, hi-jacking
![]() About the colour, it is actually fairly impossible to shift the colour spectrum as the LEDs are very narrow band emitters. But it helped a bit for the time being. That is the same reason for me getting really sick if exposed to ambient led light for a longer time (Philips sell their "mood" light in Europe .. 100% based on LED for a guaranteed bad mood) In my house, I see no future for it except in my fridge, to find the cheese or boose. Did you know that in Europe, old style incandescent bulbs are forbidden to import or sell since sept. 2012 ? So now we have being stuck here with those DAMN LED lights, that are imo only good for everthing, except the area where you want to be happy; home. So, I already knew that painting that blueish 6000K light would be a drop of water on a hot plate, it barely helps. But as said the vision in the interior is already improved. What I want to do next is to use 3000K 'warm' (as can read above, warm white based on LED does not yet exist, any scientist that disagrees be welcome) white as indirect lighting for the interior. It could be for example a strip of 3000K LEDs, to mount under the seat or dashboard. Not as gimmick !but as real usable lighting. For the original interior lighting is a laugh and if you really need it or are stuck somewhere in the dark, you will be happy having it. Same for the trunk. That small plastic cover in the front trunk is wrong designed, it is too small for the heat the bulb produces. Even with the standard bulb, the platic melts a bit and on long term, it will harden out. And then break of coarse if pulled out. I could not find something else than a 6000K LED at the moment but it is again, already an improvement. I have already prepared wiring there for an indirect lighting LEDstrip, at the opposite side of that plastic capped bulb (near the front bumper). It is a simple removable mod and once installed, there will be a much more homogenic spread light in the trunk. Once again, very handy when stuck in the dark somewhere on a lost road .. or at the front of a hotel without the need for a light torch to find your stuff. Looking pretty silly to me photos later Last edited by VT5700; 11-19-2012 at 05:39 PM. |

Led lights are best found alternative source for the old energy consuming lights, they last long as they have a better working life about 50000 hrs much better than old forms also they do not harm environment and are available in many colors as Red, Green, Blue, White etc.
