Default Did you guys hear that Lamborghini is getting rid of all their inventory?

I heard that lamborghini is getting rid of all thier diablo inventory by June...is this true? So does that mean we Diablo owners are going to be screwed when we need parts?

I knew it was coming. Some parts have a 10 yr limit to supply, some 15.

Yes in some ways the parts supply, or lack of is going to screw the pooch. In other ways things will be better becuase the smartest of the Service/Parts Independents will develop better parts.

Reverse engineering is easier, but it does require front loaded capital investment.

I have very close friends in China if anyone is interested in Manufacturing New-Old Parts (i spent a week in Vegas at the Asian Automotive Trade Show). However, very small runs (under a 1000) are not in they're vocabulary, but at $0.20cents to our dollar they are immpossible to beat.

Can't help but think that's Audi killing off the old Lamborghini so it can re-invent it. Can't find parts? Tough buy a new one. Bad, Bad, Bad!

I'll send you the email address privately because she is a Chinese National & My GF...and I don't want all these horn dogs writing her .. .

But I can tell you for a fact that the products appeared superb and can definately fill any void when the time comes. I din't see any Lambo parts of course, but many of the companies are already making parts of almost every type for BMW, MB. & Porsche. Including High Performance parts such as ignition wires, brake calipers, spark plugs, injectors, clutches, suspensions, you name it!!! There wasn't much that I didn't see actually. Some of you may remember, it was the same week as the last SEMA Show.

Back to the orginial point of this post, I haven't heard any official notice or confirmation of this "rumor". Frankly, it sounds like the kind of thing those that want to peddle the newer cars would say to keep you from picking up some great bargains among the later Diablos. Isn't there a US federal law that says manufacturers have to keep parts on models for some specified period of time, at least 10 years? Lambo last sold Diablos as 01 model years, so we're well away from that deadline.

I wouldn't panic. Many, many older exotics remain on the road with no fear of a shortage of parts. Heck, just watch Jay Leno rebuild his Dusenburgs and the parts supply available for that marquee.

I hope you are right...are the 01's interchangable with the 92's?

Chinese parts for Diablos? great! if someone would get complete Diablo replicas made in China, i'd buy one for sure! and some fake 8 liter V12 offshore power boat engines too please.
Seriously, I have a machine shop too, and if anyone needs anything made in batches of 1000, my operation is very efficient and I promise no quality control issues or "misunderstandings". Oh and I'm based in Sydney, Australia.
