As things are standing, I might be able to free up some money in a few months that should allow me to enter the "lower" scale of Diablo ownership... So just about enough for the early 2WD 5.7 Diablos...

I've read quite a bit about things going wrong, things that should be replaced, etc, but I'd like to know what I should look out for when buying a Diablo.

Also, what about running costs? Not fuel-related, but what lasts how long, what kind of maintenance, ...

So i'd like to hear from owners what the real life of ownership is like...

ask andrew on here he owns 2 and is selling one of them . hes a great guy and knows his sh-- with the diablos . think he has a 92 or 92 for sale and knowing him the car is cherry .

Don't be scared of a car that has a few miles on the clock, stay away from anything that has sat around for the last few years.

Budget on doing the clutch, consider it a bonus if you don't have to !

The early 2wd cars offer the best bang for the buck, especially if you like the raw car, no power steering etc.

I like the rawness of the original Diablo, that's not the issue, but i'd like to know what to look out for... I seem to remember reading about leaking shocks, bad clutches, pinion gears failing, ...

Leaking shocks do not apply to the earlier cars in the same way as the later models.

Pinion gear seems to be an issue, I have my fingers and toes crossed.

The clutch is an issue, simply because you don't know how it has been abused. The answer is to treat it with respect, make sure that the clutch free play adjustment is right, and if it fails, upgrade to kevlar which will likely last 3 times longer.
