Default Diablo Insurance Costs

I am beginning my search for a 94 to 96 Diablo.
Would like to know what some of you guys are paying for insurance and what kind of policies and restrictions you have.
Thanks.
Coz

I just went through this exercise and found that most of the companies I called simply would not insure my 99 SV - that included USAA, Cotton States, I think Allstate, cant remember all of them... had Progressive before. they had a $150K cutoff (probably ok for the car you are looking at) and were about $1000 every 6 months. I'm 34 with 1 speeding ticket 2 years ago, live in GA. had a couple of ferraris with them before and was a little cheaper. just switched all my stuff to state farm. they are a little more on my other cars, a little less on the lambo ($900 every 6 months), about same on houses and boats and stuff - did it mainly for convenience of having everything under one roof. also talked to a few of the "collector" insurance companies and didnt like all the restrictions - and their price was higher! but I've heard other people say good things about them so I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. I'm sure the stated-value type coverage would be an easier experience if your car gets totalled.

rates and coverages seem to vary a lot state by state. my advice would be to find a VIN off of a year/model car you might like and start calling for quotes.

Default My results for insurance on 97 VT roadster

I live in Florida and it took me a while to find someone to insure my 97 VT roadster for replacement cost (as opposed to replacement value). I started with Leland West and they were an absolute nightmare to deal with. Extremely rude customer service; they would not provide me with a copy of the policy they were selling (so I could inspect the fine print) prior to purchasing the policy; and they would not insure for any loss if the car was ever out of my sight. Policy premium was about $1650 a year. I also called Aon and they wanted $3,200 a year but would only insure if the car was kept at a garage with a security system that was attached to your home. (I live in a condo with a covered parking space and keep my upper-end vehicles in a storage facility that has electronic gated entry with 24-hour on-site staff and video surveillance but that was not good enough for them- it had to be in an enclosed garage attached to my home.)

Of the major chain insurers that would touch the roadster, all had a limit of $150,000. However, Allstate was able to write me a replacement cost policy because I had two other cars (every day drivers) insured with them. Total yearly policy is $1100 and there is no garaging restriction.

Please remember that my policy is in Florida and that your age, driving record, and credit score will determine the rate you are charged. I'm in my 30's with good credit and one speeding ticket in the past 3 years.

Wow! What do you value your car at? I have $150,000 and it's only $2,300. Do you have a bad driving history on record? I live in NYC. Your rate should be less in Florida. Wow again!

I put a very reasonable $175,000 as replacement cost on my 1997 VT roadster. As I stated in my previous post, I am in my 30's with good credit and no traffic citations in the previous three years (the maximum time that car insurance companies in Florida can go back).

Hagerty told me they went back 5 years. They also insure my 88 vette for $600 a year
