I was rear ended last week in stop and go traffic. I have moderate damage done to rear of my car. Bumper is destroyed, tailpipe bent, rear grill bent, and worst yet, rear quarter on driver's side slightly creased.
Questions are, any suggestions on where to take it in Central Florida. Second question is what do I have to accept in way of repairs from the insurance company? Meaning, is body filler and a "best try" paint match of the quarter and rear what I have to accept unless digging in my own pocket for a proper repair? Or can I demand a repair worthy of the vehicle? Last question is what is an acceptable repair? Again, minor damage if we were talking anything other than an exotic. |

Sorry to hear of your accident. You failed to mention what year car you have...
I have stock tail pipes that may help or you may want to use this opportunity to upgrade. I've seen several bumpers for different years on and off eBay at fair prices. Here is a bumper for auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lambo...QQcmdZViewItem Depending on the damage you don't need to take it to a Lamborghini dealer. I hope you have a good insurance company and low deductible. I would however take it to someone with experience. |

The Diablo SV is a '98. I have to take it in for an estimate tomorrow morning so I took a few pictures of the damage for my own records. After a closer inspection I see that the aluminum of the quarter panel is ripped in one place and has a hole in another. Questions are: Can aluminum be repaired properly. If not, then do I have the right to ask for a new quarter panel?
BTW, I will go to Ultimate and see what sort of time frame we're looking at. |

It was a Dodge pick up truck that hit me.
I dropped the car off at Ultimate Motors today. After walking thru their facility I was instantly at ease with having my car repaired there. Body off restorations of some very old and rare cars in every spotless room. They did say that repairs needed on my car was more involved than it first appears. No structural frame damage, but some fabrication and aluminum work will most likely be necessary. First step is gathering parts to see what is available and what will need to be fabricated. |

So how did the repairs go in the end?
Normally, as the dodge was the culprit, their insurance would pay for everything. You could ask your insurance company to make sure they repair the car to perfection, which I suppose it was in, before they hit you. Here in Europe, insurance companies won't even let you repair a car without official parts, and an accredited workshop. Would you happen to have pictures? What kind of speed did they hit you with (stop & go traffic, could still be 30mph) |
