That is correct and the reason is totally mechanical. The simple fact is that the float level changes fast as the tank starts to empty and nothing in the system compensates for this.

That is a different issue and probably more to do with its physical calibration.

You should be able to pick up the O2 sensors, tach, some of fuel trims, temps, pressures.

i gave up depending on the crappy Diablo fuel gauge. rule of thumb for me is gas up when the odo hits 200 KM

200km must be a joke?

easy highway driving = 700km
very fast driving 450km absolute worst figure with mine

I cannot get it worse than 22L every 100km

Maybe US models are different ECU programmed? I fill normally a mix of 95/98 octane and sometimes a full tank of 102 in my US to EU imported VT

By the way, I will measure my gauge voltages to see if the accuracy can be raised, i could then make a simple circuitry for adding to the gauge

You surprise me a lot with your consumption !

Ever since I bought the Diablo my average is 24l/100km and during my return to France I didn't really push it a lot. The last time I pushed it a little, the average got up to 30l/100km, and I still had a lot of margin.
I'm almost sure that on a mountain road, if I drive very fast, I can reach 40l/100km.

WTF !!!!

Do you remember that I wrote to you PM that I drove with the guys in November so fast, also in curve that it frightened me almost ? I could pretty keep up with the LP560 and 570 and although of coarse they were faster in those curves, the Diablo did very very well. I drove back from that event to home over a distance of about 100km and filled the tank up with 62.10L and the total distance was 322.7km - calculated this is 19.24 L / 100km

This is just 1 example and I threw all my other petrol receipts just away a few weeks ago but the only explanations I have for this are :

1. US ECU -programming runs lean on 98/102 Octane
2. driving style
3. most important : is my Odometer correct !??

I never checked my odo meter on accuracy ! Could this be the explanatio9jn then ? Like said, the worst ever with speeding on straights, curves, roads go up and down is about 22-23 L / 100km which should be some 10.2 MPG.

Could my odometer be wrong?

By the way, received my PLX DM100 yesterday and it works well and indeed Mick, there is sadly no fuel information but I will spend some time on the fuelgauge in the new season. I am worrying everytime when my fuelgauge show 0 for a longer time, but at the petrolstation I had never less than still some 30L in my tank I would feel much more comfortable when I could simply see an accurate reading. The DM100 now shows also speed digitally, so now I must try to set it to KM instead of Miles and then compare it to a GPS, maybe that will solve the mystery about my low fuel consumption, that I was fooled all that time by an odometer? could be

We could compare it if you are interested when we drive with your group to the Lamborghini 50 event (thanks for the invitation!) but to be honest I have not yet participated due to no response from other EU owners both through a Lamborghini club and this forum

I am still surprised there is not any initiation from Lamborghini, other than updating their website and their online newsletter

They could learn a lot from Mercedes! No matter where you live or try to hide, they will find you and send you information of new models or events if you own an AMG. There is not any marketing effort from the Lamborghini factory . curious

I think Lamborghini, thus now Audi, don't really care about old Lambos, which is a shame.
I know the people from the French Lambo club who have had Lambos for 20 years all say things are very different since the Audi buy. Before, they say Lamborghini took great care of their past, their heritage, now not any more.
For example there used to be a restoration program at the factory, for old Lambos. One of the French guy sent his Countach in the 90s. Now there's nothing left. They just build Aventadors and Gallardos hoping they will sell more to get make more money...

Yep that's what happens when a huge public company concerned about next quarters profits takes possession of anything. Everything yields to it.

Why I'm an unabashed Audi basher!

What does this mean? No Diablo ECU will "run lean".... And if you think it can, I'd like to know exactly how.

Anti-evaporation system monitoring
The evaporation system is used to impede the fuel vapours coming out from the supply system. The standards require monitoring of the evaporation system efficiency and the detection of any loss of hydrocarbon vapours from the fuel supply system or the evaporation circuit. The LIE system conforms to this requirement using software strategies based on signals coming from the fuel vapours pressure sensor.
It will not run the test if the tank is 1/4 or less or 3/4 or more full. The amounts depends on what the programing is set at along with other things for it to say I will run the EVAP test.

These are values that are true for other models like the Gallardo.
