Raymond if you don't know what you're talking about, don't. Orange was done on at least 6 cars that I know of by the factory, and sorry pal, it was an awesome color. Remember the famous cover from 1975 of "Classic Car" magazine, with the bright orange lp400? Come to think of it, you probably don't.

The orange of the LP400 is completely different from what the newer cars have like the VT6.0, that early orange is more a very bright red. The best known is this here: http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/C...0/1120106.html There are only 3 LP400 with that colour registred in the later models range this colour was no more available, I have the original paint samples of those years ![]()

For me there is no doubt that orange is the colour for a Countach. It is a very 70's colour that has style, flair, and class. The Countaches that were painted in orange (I can't claim all but most) were in a monochromatic (non metallic) colour. This differs from the Diablo's and Murcielago's that appear in pearlescent metallic orange. I visited the factory back in May and there were 2 Gallardos on the line one right after the other. One was Pearl Orange (Arancio Atlas) and the other was a monochrom orange of the same colour without the pearl sheen.
I have decided that when I eventually get an LP400 that it will be painted in a custom pearl orange with a very fine metalic flake. I have seen this colour on a non Lambo show car at the SEMA show in Vegas last month. You can only tell that it is metallic by looking at it very closely however the pearl in the paint helps to cleanly define the many sharp edges and details on the Countach body. This way the car will have the retro feel with the orange with the slightly more modern effects that can be achieved with the newer paints. All I know is that when the time comes, block sanding the body will cost me a fortune. |

The best colour for a LP400 is yellow, nothing else
On the S-Countach yellow is too much, from silver, white, black are a bunch of colours good looking but definitely not yellow and not orange, much too agressive for the extreme body shape. Red is the standard colour for italian sport cars but IME awful, I hate red.
