btw it's not possible to install the original rims on that blue countach because the alcan brake calipers are too big for the 15" rims...

Simon,

I don't know where you are from and if you plan to ever go back.
At the next auction of oldtimergalerie are 3 25th Anniversary for sale, the two injected were imports from california, so they can be brought back to the states if ever needed. Max' personal Anniversary has carbed and cannot be officially registred in Switzerland.
The red LP400s is the 7th ever built LP400s from 1978 but did never belong to Bobnar, it was owned by other founders of the swiss club who retired.
They invested a lot in maintenance into this car, price seems to be ok.

As I wrote it's a LP400s built in 1978, it's this car:

Hi Raymond, I'm british and intend never going back if I can help it
I saw the auction catalogue and the estimate on the 3 Anniversary cars are too expensive for me. The LP400s is more like my budget, but the top end. I don't think I'll be bidding on it. We'll see if it sells. The green car I originally looked at was also for sale at the Oldtimergalerie for a long time for about 80,000, but never sold. I know the red one is in much better condition, but we'll see what happens.

BTW you mentioned teh car for sale in Gossau, do you know of any other Countachs, preferably LP400s for sale but not openly advertised?

Thanks
Simon

Well I went and drove the two Countachs on saturday. I've never driven a Countach before and they were both very hard on the road.

The green one went well, perhaps not as quick as I'd expected but still very fast. The exhaust is too loud but the standard exhaust comes with the car. Everything went well up until I said I wanted a PPI done. The guy nearly threw me out of his office. There is no way I'm buying a 25 year old supercar from a backstreet garage with no PPI. So decision more or less made on that one.

Then I headed off to Bern to look at the blue one. I was a little less interested in this cars as I prefer original over modified and the wheels looked wrong and the sports seats aren't really my cup of tea. But in the flesh its looks great. Much better than on the pictures. Paint looks good and the interior is in good condition. He told me the engine is a replacement 5000 unit, not a stroked LP400 unit. Its also badged QV but that doesn't prove anything. Unfortunately the car was only running on 8 cylinders or so. We took it out anyway hoping the others would catch, but its stayed like that the whole time. So not a good test drive. No power.

However, the car looks good, the price is right and this guys is happy for me to do a PPI. I'll call him back about the ignition/cylinder problem.

Raymond, do you know a lambo expert called Plus? Apparently he knows the full history of the car. I mentioned I might get your mechanic to do the PPI and he thought that he was this Plus guy.

Cheers
Simon

I just stumbled over this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=4557614544

A swiss QV with MSD 6 ignition, my SS exhaust muffler and the bigger brakes, I installed also the BMC Air filter and stronger radiator fans, the car was really good, I hope the body damage is not that bad...
I know the car by heart, it's my friends car he sold it approx. one month ago to buy a Diablo SV...
Seems the new owner (not the seller of the auction) was not able to handle the power
