Default Starter Selenoid issues?

Anyone else have problems restarting the car after it has been driven?
Car starts perfectly when its cold but wont do anythiny now when its hot. You have to wait until it cools down before the starter will engage again. Is this a selenoid problem? I saw a thread about installing a second selonoid can anybody explain how to do that?

regards,

Jerry

I have an 88 QV. Had a similar problem. I posted a question like that about a year ago and Raymond immediatly replied "fuel pump relays". I replaced ALL my relays.
Problem solved. Keep in mind they are 20 plus years old and must have corrosion etc
on the contacts. I would get rid of every one of them and replace every fuse I could find. Start with the fuel pump relays and see what happens. BTW search the threads and you will find the schematic Raymond posted with the relay layouts.
Also clean up the fuse contacts. You may be surprised at what you find in the electrical boxes in the to two rear compartments when you open them up! I found some scary
things. You can see them in one of my previous posts.
Hope this helps.

It can also be a bad ground. My starter had the bolt come out, which let the bendix pivot (ie the bolt which held the part that would engage/disengage to the flywheel). It still worked, but poorly. It's a nice big job to remove the starter. Exhaust on left side comes out, & left axle. Cheap to rebuild though. I think the solenoid is the same as a 240D Mercedes. My starter rebuild was about $200.
