I will get some pictures up as soon as possible. I'm organizing a stag party this weekend and I'm pretty busy but will get the pics up soon. I'm not sure what happened too the alternator. It died after 50K and I got a tow back too the dealer and they put anouther alternator in. I'm driving back too Calgary (7 hour drive) next week and they are going too rebuild my alternator four me. In regards too the starter, I have had no problems other than that day that it did not start. It has started every single time since then! One good trick, remove the alternator on your own, it's really easy, remove the distributor cap, unscrew the alternator, take it out of the mount, turn it 90 degrees the way the pulley looks at the top. then you can move it to the left where the distributor cap was you can take it out. takes about 10 minutes...

Then bring it to a Bosch dealer and let them overhoul the unit. The alternator we have in our cars is nothing special except the top cover which is specially made to mount it in the car.
The alternator is mainly made of 4 parts:
1. cover plate - specially for the countach
2. winding part - standard
3. diode plate - standard
4. voltage regulator - standard

a good bosch dealer takes it to pieces and replaces what is bad...

Hello friends: I just bought an 88 Countach with a bum starter. I have been able to get the bolts and wires off, but I can't get the thing out. It looks like I need about two to three more inches to wigle it down through the little triangle in the frame. Can someone tell me what I have to do to getthis thing out? Also, I would like to put a smaller one in and/or have this one rebuilt. Anyone have any leads?
