well, there are opinions very different from yours...., take a look at the registry
no doubt the late cars are faster on the straight line (remember early lp400s
are faster than 400 s2 and 5000s )
, but this is not all: lighter cars are better handling and early countach are also best loocking

P.S. for Raymond : your car is a super QV

....These Countaches are the best handling Countaches (as their slalom times show when tested by Road & Track etc.) and can be described as the very definitive Countach, with a much advanced handling setup complete with P7s, as the Countach was originally intended. The Countach S Series One is also the rarest production Countach with just 50 total built.....

LP400 Road & Track 1976 0-60/ 6.8 sec 0-100/ 13.3 sec 1/4 mile/ 14.4 sec
top/ 165 mph

I notice you quote the fastest times tested for the QV and the slowest for the LP400 . I agree acceleration will be quicker in a QV but I'd say the top end is very close due to weight and aerodynamic differences.

I have been lucky enough to own both cars although I have not driven my LP400 yet - its on its way to me from the US as we speak.

Will give you my opinion in due course

Craig

The July/August 2000 edition of Italian car-magazine Ruoteclassiche featured a comprehensive test of an LP400 (chassis # 1120062, I believe)

They had the following test-results:
standing kilometre: 24,8 sec (512 BB: 25,8 sec)

0 - 40 km/h: 1,8 sec (512: 2,0)
0 - 60 km/h: 2,6 sec (512: 2,9)
0 - 80 km/h: 3,9 sec (512: 4,5)
0 - 100 km/h: 5,0 sec (512: 6,2)
0 - 120 km/h: 6,2 sec (512: 8,3)
0 - 140 km/h: 8,1 sec (512: 10,8)
0 - 160 km/h: 11,5 sec (512: 14,3)
0 - 180 km/h: 15,9 sec (512: 18,5)

Topspeed: 299,2 km/h (512: 290,3)

The 288 km/h mentioned earlier was reached by Auto Motor und Sport in their 15/1975 issue.
