Cool Countach clutch

Looking for experiences countach owners have had with their clutch and replacement options available. I have an 86 euro model, downdraft carb with 25,000 miles on the odometer. Still had the original factory clutch, shows a fair amount of wear (no slippage) so I'm replacing the unit. Options available: standard factory material, carbon fiber and kevlar. Now, I don't beat on the car or race it on the track. I attend some rallies, drive in city and country traffic, etc. Pros and Cons described to me: factory has good feel but wears out faster; carbon fiber leaves dust, and kevlar has a "bite" to it when clutch is engaged, but both last longer than factory. I'm looking for a clutch that I can engage fairly comfortably without any serious jolts when shifting gears(unless deliberately desired). It's in vogue to go the latter two options, but others have argued the original factory. I wondered if owners could share their experiences given driving style, option installed, duration (longevity)/feel of the clutch, etc. Thanks.

Mike

Did mine with Kevlar. No problems.
Problem with the factory clutch is if it is not used that assembly adhears together. Happened with mine.

I also have a DD and had mine redone (still had original clutch) just a few months ago. Some time over the years a washer or some debree must have fallen in the "window" of the bell housing and had scratched the flywheel and clutch. This was discovered only when it was taken apart, no slippage, etc. Had the flywheel refaced and new original clutch plate, also new slave cylinders, front and back. Did the work at an authoiorized shop 3 miles away from the factory. I figured if the original clutch lasted 23 years that was fine wtih me.
Since it is an engine out job take advantage of the engine removal to replace seals, gaskets, adjust valves, paint engine bay, etc.

Mine looks the same except that we refaced the friction disc with DTM proven facings, flywheel and pressure plate surfaced, that was the cheapest clutch repair CHF 600 since the engine was out anyway.

You failed to mention which pressure plate your car has. Is it the steel or aluminum one. Performance wise, the lighter one (aluminum) is better but can cause this grabbing you talked about. The steel one has the weight and will slip more, not much but enough to feel better and that slipping is just a micro amount. I almost always go with the kevlar lining.
