Like the LM002, I have also been keeping track of Countach sales here in the states over the years. These were also internet ads, hemmings motor news and D. R. Fine Auto classifieds. This is somewhat pointless, except to prove how good we once had it. These are clean, non-baskets.
March 2001 Hemmings, Octagon Auto, 1984 5000s, white/black, 25k mi., $45,000. February 2001 Hemmings, Gullwing Motorcars, 1985 5000s, white, $49,500. Early 2003, Private Sale, 1982 5000s, 26k mi., Black, $49,000 (would be offered again about 1 year later for $59,000). DuPont Registry, November 1999, Private Seller, Red 1979 4000s, Under 1k mi., Untitled & Still Under MSO, $79,000. October 12, 2000, Private Online Classified, 1978 LP400s, 35k Mi., Black, $39,000 (THE LOWEST "DRIVER" CONDITION PRICE EVER!!!!!). Hemmings Motor, Jan. 2001, 1980 LP400s, White, 25k Mi., private sale, $49,000. DuPont Registry, Jan. 2000, Exotic Wholesale, 1987 QV5000s, 12k mi., $59,500. DuPont Registry, July 1999, Exotic Wholesale, 1988 QV5000s, 24k mi., $55,000. DuPont Registry, July 1995, 1984 5000s, Red, 17k mi., $58,500. Hemmings, April 2005, Private Seller, 1989 25th Ann., white, 9k mi., $70,000. Hemmings, October 2001, Private Seller, 1977 LP400 "Perriscopo", Red, $70,000. DuPont Registry, December 2004, Heritage Classics, 1974 "Perriscopo", Red, 20000 km, $88,500. Auto Week, Various October 2003 Issues, 1978 LP400s, Joe Reina, $59,000. I'm sure there is more I forgot about, if I find them, I'll add them. I think cou can get enough of an idea, however, to start kicking yourself for not buying 5 years ago! ![]() |

Hi All
I know we have been talking about this in another thread..... In the UK I think you would have to pay more than 100,000 GBP (approx 200K US dollars) for a good condition LP400. And if you are after a clean QV, these are now starting from 50,000 < 55,000 GBP. You do see the odd example pop up cheap - but remember, you only get what you pay for!!! Although - I do wish I had bought a Muira 5 years ago!!! The prices have shot up on these!! Best Regards Ian The trouble with history.... it's just one thing after another!!! |

Yeah, those prices you mentioned are true today, however, most of the cars I posted reflect transactions which were closed at least 4 years ago. There really was a time where you could buy a "C+ to B-" Lp400s or 5000s for under 50k, or around 30000 GBP. Yes, it is hard to believe, but if you don't believe me, buy a Hemmings from 1998-early 2003. You will find that prices are relatively 40% higher. For example, a 1988 QV with 12k km was being offered for $74k USD in 2002. If you look on ebay right now, pretty much the same car is up for grabs, but the BIN fee is an ugly $107k USD.
As far as Miuras go, I couldn't agree with you more. There is one helluva surge of appreciation goin' on! The last time I saw a Miura under 50k usd was August 1988, where a Yellow '67 P400 with 56000km was being offered for 49000 USD. Even in 1988, you began to see some of the SV's selling around $200k! (But they went way down around 1994). I wish I liked Ferraris as much as I like Lamborghinis, because a Testarossa is much much much more affoardable than a Countach; but I am smitten by the bull. ![]() |

Hi Carlo (and all),
I agree, and after much deliberation if I sold my Countach I'd only want to replace it with another Countach (or perhaps a GT Diablo!!) I was offered an "undisclosed" amount via a private message for my Countach from the other Countach Price thread. Whilst I was very flattered by the offer and interest - I have to say that I wasn't even tempted to sell. Best Regards Ian |

You can buy a 1991 or 93 Diablo for the same price or even cheaper now then you can buy a Countach... I only found three Ct's in the mid $80K to mid $90K range last year. There both gone now. Right now its slim pickings out there for the CT un less you really like the 25th's.
