Well after celebrating getting through smog, I set out to figure out why the horn doesnt blow when you hit the center of the steering wheel. After getting the wheel taking apart I noticed a horn symbol on the turn signal stalk. And low and behold, after pressing it the horn honked.

Are you f'ing kidding me? The horn is on the turn signal stalk? I just about crapped myself laughing...

LOL.

Sorry man that is funny. If you have any questions you can always ask. Also I would read through the owners manual. It is not long. Raymond has it on his site.

Similar story on the '85 Maserati I used to have. Woke the neighbors with a blaring air horn when I accidentally hit the stalk (hard to explain position)....turned out to be one of the idiosyncrasies I loved about it. I used the horn A LOT after that.

is the 85 a BiTurbo or a QP?

I am surprised they let those cars in to the US with that horn position. And in reality, if you are in a pinch needing to honk the horn, are you going to use it, or would your reaction be to slam the center of the wheel?

I agree, its idiosyncratic and I love it as well. This car is really growing on me.

I had both an '85 Biturbo and (2) '80 Quattroporte's. All 3 had the horns on the turn signal stalk.

As did my '83 Jalpa and my current '86 Countach.

The Jalpa and countach stalk is the exact same. I also believe the p300 and silhoutte shared the same stalk. Not sure when the law changed but my cars are legal US versions.

Geno, you are correct most of the manual is an over view, but some good info in it.

Now that i am through smog, I am going to put on the new stainless exhaust system I overpaid for on ebay (for offroad use only, of course). I dont want to leave it stainless as I think it will look like the stanley cup hanging under my car.

I was thinking of powder coating or ceramic coating. Any thoughts as to which would be better (or will paint hold up under the heat?). the headers are ceramic coated, so i am leaning that direction.

Ceramic coating is what I would do.

I plan to leave mine SS. I was even thinking of an SS grill instead of the normal Black one.

If you do anything I think ceramic would be the way to go.
