The clear bra is called Accuclear. It is sold in Miami by an Accuclear dealer / installer. I don't know if the company exists anywhere else under that name. I've seen similar products with different names. Its basically a clear plastic that is laser cut for your car and protects the bumper, front and mirrors. After about 2 years it starts to get hazy (waxing it regularly extends the life I'm told)and has to be replaced. It cost around 500 - 600 dollars to do one of these cars and takes around 3 - 4 hours. They cut the sheets at the shop before they get to me. I have it on all of my exotics except the Superleggera, but I will do that soon. I'm a big fan.

I have my installer custom cut an extra piece for under the front bumber to protect the paint in the event I bottom out. It has saved me a couple of times and instead of repainting I have him change that piece for $50.

The Veyron offers basically the same product done at the factory (they use a 3M material) and they call it a stoneguard. They offer a basic package (what I get from Accuclear) for 5k and an enhanced package (overkill) for 10k.

I'm debating on wether I shouid get it done at the factor or have my guy do it for 1/10 of the price. Only even considering the factory option cause its the Veyron. On anything else I would not pay such a high price.

Thanks for the explanation.
Do you have a website for the accuclear products ? Seems like a good deal, the 3M stuff is supposedly a lot more expensive for any car; not just the Veyron. The car I'm planning to buy does have a stoneguard 3M layer but after 2 years it seems to have served the best of its time so I'm either looking to replace it with the same, or better, a cheaper alternative with the same quality.

Does the 3M material last longer than the AccuClear? I personally would find it frustrating that the product would haze, even after a couple of years. Also, if you were to get enough chips in the nose of the Bugatti, would you have to send it back to the factory to have the film replaced, or have someone else do it that is familiar with the 3M product? Could be that it is factory / car specific compound. . . hence the price. It's all relative, though.

My brother has a 3M clearbra/coating thing on his car which I believe is called Starshield. Some of you maybe be interested in looking that up.

My bad. Product may actually be called AccuGuard (I have it both ways in my Contacts). For more information call Juan Peralta @ 954-394-8250. Tell him you are a friend of Mr. Wolf from Hollywood, FL. With respect to which product is better, I don't think there is a big difference and the AccuGuard product may actually be manufactured by 3M and re-branded. The trick is in the installation. If the installer is good, you can barley notice it. Juan does all my cars and most of the Ferrari's sold by the Collection in Coral Gables. He takes his time and he's very good. The fact that he cuts a custom bottom piece for me to protect against bottoming out is great and it looks great. Also, he does the work in my garage so its very convinient.

Hope this helps.

Very good point. What would probably happen is that if it got bad you would remove the Bugatti product entirely and replace it with a local 3M or AccuGuard product. The thing is that I'm not planning on driving the BV more than 1,000 - 1,500 miles per year. Probably a couple of nice Florida weekend trips and a nice run or two. I want to keep the miles especially low because I think in the long term the car is going to appreciate (once the 300 are sold). The reason I feel this is because the car actually costs VW over 3MM to manufacture. The Veyron project is a 500MM marketing expense designed to establish Bugatti as a supercar powerhouse. They will, in the near future, intoduce a regular exotic that competes directly with L and F.

Absolutely to the moon and back, LOL.

I do see your point on the BV (I like that acronym). Will all the people leaving Florida en masse, maybe that will help un-clog the roads so you can make those weekend blasts that much more enjoyable. I do remember seeing pics of a planned B convertible in the mag rags, but typical speculation. I think that a modern Royale (pardon the coincidental pun with the name of the wax) that blows RR out of the water might be up their alley.

Finally found the website http://www.accuguard.biz/ seems a local company like you mentioned.
Product is actually called Ventureshield. (www.ventureshield.com )
They do have a worldwide distribution network including a dealer in my area... so here you go.. it took some pushing and pulling but this trip to the moon is starting to pay off...

The pattern search on Ventureshield's site is really cool. Maybe that's why they do such a goos job since the clear plastic is pre-cut by a computer for your excact model - instead of by hand. That way, your not so dependant on the installer for te job to come out perfect.

As I said, if your in South Florida, use AccuGuard and ask for Juan to do the install. He's never screwed one up and he's done about 10 for me. Tell him to protect the bottom (custom). Save you from road rubs on the lower cars...
