The 25th Countach ran from late 88 (89 model year) to around April 1990 so one could argue that the Countach was Lamborghini's car for the 1990 model year (and had LLA vins). Even though the Diablo was released in calander year 1990, it was probably late enough to make the 1991 model year (think the cut over is around September).

There are some 1990 Diablos for example LLA12008 I took a picture at the 2001 Murci Event in Italy.
Remember they presented the Diablo in January 1990 in Monaco, there were at least 4 cars. Perhaps they labeled most of the cars as 1991 because they first were sold after August 1990 to the customers ?

Diablo serial number 12013 is noted as a MLA prefix (1991) and 12004 was a prototype so that leaves very few 1990 model year possibilities. But who knows what serial number was first "sold".
LLA is 1990 model year - no question. -mick |
