Im not sure I follow the twists that this thread has taken . In this era of globalism what is a Italian design or an American design or a (whatever design) ??? Lexus's (Lexi ??) are just blatent Mercedes copies... the Enzo was designed by a Japanese designer....is (for example) the Elise an English design ? It was easy to tell that a 58 Buick was American and an Adenour Merecedes was German and a Morris 7 was British but those stytlistic locksteps are from eras as antiquated as the white pages.

Good point I guess. Lamborghini isn't even Italian as far as I'm concerned. Hasn't been ever since they sold out to the Germans.

The Murcielago is a true Italian vehicle (even if it was not designed by an Italian), it still has the original engine that can trace its source back to before the Miura… with some Audi parts to keep it running.

I just hope that the Murcielago replacement will still have some original Lamborghini parts in it.

I do appreciate the increased reliability that has come with the German ownership (from what I have heard).

Mmm, I think I understand what you're saying, but there's such a thing as 'house style'. No matter which nationality the actual designer has: they will always have to blend in with traditiion. If BMW finds a great designer in South Tibet, they will hire him, but in the end, at a glance you'll see it's a BMW. The Murci and the Gallardo look every inch Lamborghini, though designed by a 'Waffle' .

Well said Jef.
Compare this car to the S7 and you would never think they were made by the same company.
I have always thought of Saleen as being a true American Mfg.
