Default Radar/Laser -- do you use a detector?

Ok, now I’m doing an article on radar/laser detectors. Deadline is this Friday.

Anybody here want to be interviewed? Again, it’s an article for the San Jose Business Journal, and I’ll need to run your name, occupation and location.

I’m looking for Lambo users who have the latest technology in their cars and know what works and what doesn’t. It’s not a long article, but it’s important to have quotes from real users -- and in Silicon Valley everybody likes to read about Lambo owners!

We just used Henry’s quotes about ipoding his Gallardo. How about some Countach, Diablo or Murcielago owners stepping up to the plate?

Thanks,

Fred

Well just about everybody swears by Valentine 1, except me. I like the Passport Solo which is cordless, that way you can switch from car to car, no ugly cord, and you don't have to tear your interior up to bury it. It might not be quite as good as the V1, but the trade off is worth it to me, maybe I'll change my mind if I get stopped, we'll see.

These things are a must.

I have the Valentine 1 in my 01 diablo with the added LASER jamers front and rear. Total cost was approx $1300.00. They did a great job hiding all the items. The main head is in front of the rear view mirror and I had the lasar jamer put into the ashtry, (non-smoker). It is without a doubt the BEST investment ever!!!

You do know that the developer of Valentie One was on the same team as Passport. Thjere LASER jamers ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. iI used the Valentine HEAD and the PASSPORT jamer add on due to its size and cost.

Of course with any radar sensing unit, they are only as good as your ability to read themn correctly, and react in accordance prior to being ZAPPED. This is MUCH more difficult with all the new HANDHELD LASERS out there. They only emit once pointed at you, usually way to late, however the jammers work great to throw off their readings.

The remaining problem is that if you are realy cruzin' and you JAM the LASER or RADAR, the (CHP, WSP, OSP) will still write you on visual of "Exceeding the posted speed". This is a lot easier to get out of in court, howeveer you do have the inconvience of going to court, AND THEY KNOW THAT!!

When ever possible try to remain in the far left lane, most readings are taken from cars in the inside, (fast lane), try if you can to follow another sucker if at all possible and when you approaches obvious locations slow down and tuck in behind the big truck.

PS LAZAR is only good when they are sitting still, pointing a straight angle at you, and you approch with in 1/4 mile.

Guys, this is the thing I can't understand. Jammers are illegal -- at least in California -- but companys keep selling them, and folks keep using them. What's going on there? Do you just google up jammers, order and install?

I have the K40 with the completely hidden laser / radar receivers. No way you would know where the radar receivers where even if I told you

Only thing possible to see are two small LEDS above the speedo telling you which sensor is sensing (front or back or both) and what it is (number of flashes etc). There is also and audiable alarm under the dash.

Two weekends ago I travelled from Gilroy to San Diego in a caravan of four lambos. One had the V1. Twice I found myself travelling next to Diablo with the V1 with one Lambo behind. The Lambo behind knew exactly what was happening when all four brake lights of our two cars came on at the exact same time. Was pretty neat.

First of all the truth about "Illegal" Jamers.
A) They are illegal for ALL vehicles in Canada.

B) They are ONLY illegal in the US by FEDERAL mandate for commercial vehicles.

C) I am not aware of ANY state LAW that makes them illegal to POSSES, ONLY to USE!!!. This is almost impossible to do as the Officer would have to A0, admit you jammed is unit, (No ticket), or be next to you, look in your car and see that you are using a jammer on one of his buddies. LAst but not least as the states that have this law have written, "to operate or make ineffective a recviever (i.e. LASAR gun from cops), with an electronic TRANSMITTER.

MUST ALL Laser jammers on the market today are PASSIVE, in other words the seek and report, or fail to allow receivers to recieve.

GOOD LUCK trying to get you in court.

*DONT LET THE MAN GET YOU!!!!!

Accurate as of June 2004:

Laser Jammers are banned (use and/or possession and/or sale) in California, District of Columbia, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah and Virginia (and more to come).

California (restricted as to use and sale): The law in California specifically states that: "No person shall use, buy, possess, manufacture, sell, or otherwise distribute any device that is designed for jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects". Violations of this law could subject you to fines.

District of Columbia (restricted as to use, possession and sale): The law in DC states: "No person shall, in the District of Columbia, sell or offer for sale, or use, or have in his possession in a Motor Vehicle, any device designed to detect or counteract Police speed measuring device.

Minnesota (restricted as to use, possession and sale): The law in Minnesota states that: "No person shall sell, offer for sale, use or possess any jammer in this state." Violations of this law could subject you to fines.

Nebraska (restricted as to use and possession): The law in Nebraska is a little different. It states that: " It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or possess any radar or laser transmission device while operating a motor vehicle on any highway in this state." A violation of this law is considered a misdemeanor punishable to both a fine and possible jail time.

Oklahoma (restricted as to use, possession and sale): The law states that: "It shall be unlawful to manufacture, advertise or offer for sale, sell or otherwise distribute any jammer in this state." A Jammer is defined as any instrument, device, or equipment designed or intended for use with a vehicle or otherwise to jam or interfere with in any manner a speed measuring device operated by a law enforcement officer in the vicinity. The statute also states that it shall be unlawful for any person to use or possess a jammer. Violation of this law could result in fines and jail time.

Utah (restricted as to use and possession): The law in Utah states that a person may not operate a motor vehicle on a highway with a radar or laser jamming device used to interfere with the radar or laser that is used by law enforcement to measure the speed of a motor vehicle. Violations of this law could result in fines and jail time.

Virginia (restricted as to use, possession and sale): The law in Virginia prohibits the use and sale of radar or laser jamming devices. Violations of this law could result in fines and jail time.
