Default Pulled over driving 150+mph in CA

Hi guys:

It was a beautiful Sunday morning about a month ago with almost no traffic on the 101 Highway near Paso Robles, CA.

I'd already slowed to about 80 (in a 65mph zone) when I saw a CHP prowler as I rounded a bend. He followed me for a mile or so then hit his flashing lights. I pulled over quickly, but safely. I turned off my engine and had my license, insurance, and registration ready when he approached my passenger side window.

Fortunately for me, the patrolman was one of the rare cool ones: "This is a car and a half." "Uh, thanks," I responded. "I clocked you at 82, but the reason I stopped you today was your excessive speed about 20 miles north of here. You passed an off-duty sheriff, and he estimates your speed at well over 150." [He was, if anything, conservative -- it was probably closer to 175.] "Now I can't go into court and testify to that, so I'll just ask you to slow down a bit. I'm not sure if I could resist either, but please try. Not everyone out here we'll be able to react to you at those speeds. 10 miles over is fine. Be careful."

I restrained myself the rest of the way back home, though I opened it up a bit in the tunnels -- nothing can match the jet engine feedback/echo of a modified Lambo booming through a tunnel.

Chad

Now that is the big difference in my book. That moron in the Honda weaving in and out of traffic need to spend a night in jail. If I'm ripping around and there is nobody near me on a quiet road, who am I hurting?

Thats awesome. I love cops like that...I really wish I was riding with you. That would have been so fun. Tunnels are the best for high performance engine feedback. To hear a V12 singing from all sides instead of just behind you is like winning the car lottery, as opposed to getting one number.

I drive a Gallardo, so the V10 was singing. I'm heading out for more tunnels and switchbacks later today.
