Default LP640 Roadster Drivability

Curious question, how is the driving experience different in the LP640 Roadster compared to the Gallardo spyder? I have heard they are a little more difficult to park, visibility is an isse when in reverse and that it is not as stable as the g. Also, How are they in day to day traffic in town and stop and go traffic?

Thanks

I can only give you MY personal impressions. Everyone's impression will vary. Some may be completly opposite from mine but truly, the only opinion that counts is yours, the guy who drives it and buys it. So, having said that I will say that yes, the Gallardo feels a little more nimble because it is a smaller and lighter car. Visibility is not great out the back in both cars. The G may be marginally better. You ask about day to day traffic and stop and go traffic. I do not see either of these cars being in their element in those conditions. Especially if you have an E-Gear transmission as they can get a little herky jerky while travelling at slow speeds in traffic. Stability with both cars is not going to be a problem as I doubt you will take either of these cars to even 8 tenths of their capability. Now if you are going to track these cars than I will let others who have done this comment.
Bottom line for me is I love the V12 engine and for me a Lamborghini will always be the V12. The power, sound, will raise the hair on the back of your neck the first time you open it up. I love the look of the LP640 Roadster over the G. Ultimately the answer is to have both if you can afford it. If not, drive them yourself and then you will have YOUR answer.

Thank you for the input. My father has a g spyder now and we have been trying to convince him to step up to the roadster, I don't think a day goes by that he doesn't hear about it. ha. I think we all agree that the roadster is the best looking exotic by far, If you own a 640 (I'm assuming you do) I have heard the Gallardo exhaust is louder. Though I doubt this and hope it is wrong, which is louder, and by how much?

Hard for me to say for sure. As I said earlier the sound of the V12 when you start to get on it is incredible. I will have to wait until I can hear these two cars go by on a track to really know about the exhaust sound.

If you check out youtube I believe you can hear the stock exhausts being compared, just a thought.

I can't speak for the Gallardo, but I can tell you that driving my LP Roadster takes some planning. The car is very low, even with the nose lifted and some garages are difficult to enter and exit. It's not just the nose either as some underground garages can leave you high-centered. Then there is the issue of valet parking, if they know how to drive the car. Visibility isn’t an issue so much, even though it’s not great however remember you can drive the Merc around the lot with the doors open.

If you park in some places the car goes unnoticed and in others it will draw a large crowd, often with kids leaning against the car to look inside. You have to think about what you want to deal with that day. Yesterday I had a fat lady drip ice cream all over the hood as she was leaning over to look at the clear mask line.

You also have to plan for weather. I have a sport bike and planning is rather similar.

The Gallardo is a lot more common around here and I have no idea if they have the same draw.

I can’t imagine driving either car as a daily errand car. I don’t know any owners who don’t own more than one car they like to drive for daily use.

The Gallardo Spyder draws some crazy attention here in Cincy, mainly bc there aren't many of them here at all. Thanks for the info, any and all info is being used as reasons my Father should trade up, I don't think he quite realizes that it's a decision he won't regret . The car would mainly be used for small trips on weekends and running around town on sunny days.

having owned both cars i can say the gallardo is a tiny bit more nimble but the merci just romps all over it in stability and sheer acceleration feel. around town its more quiet but when you open it past 4k thats when the bull becomes unchained... the car rapidily doubles its speed in a heartbeat and makes me forget all about the gallardo. plus I got tired of telling people it was the baby lamb and no it didnt have the cool doors. In trafiic the 6 speed merci is soo much more behaved and easier to control. looks? well that is in the eye of the beholder but the general comments are "the real lambo" . the gallardo to me was more sprinty and merci is just sheer power and smoothness. plus it has more room inside for me but to each his own. I still love the gallardo especially the newly re-designed model!

I have a 2008 Gallardo Spyder and it sure will attract attention as it happens to me all the time. But Murci will attract more attention. As for the sound, I think Murci, being a 12 cylinder car, would sound a lot better. That is why I am upgrading to LP640 in a month or so.
