us what you see them building. When I toured the factory last summer, they were just starting to build the Gallardo SE. You'll probably get to see LP640s. I'd love to see that and also the build of Concept S. Make sure you contact Christina at the Lamborghini Museum before you go and arrange a factory tour. She is awesome !!!! Very nice lady !! Yes, three days in a row ! Why not ? First day to the museum. Second a factory tour. Third, just hang around and shoot cars coming and going, buy a bunch of stuff from the Lambo store, etc. They are always testing stuff, and they usually drive the test cars right up to the main entrance and get out and run into the reception area, for some reason. They usually leave the engine running and the doors open and let the fans mob the cars, take pix, take their pix with the car, etc. Then they come out after about 10 min., get back in and drive into the factory or the prototype building. The cars are the stars, as they should be. Also the Italian Polize came in with their Gallardo. They did the same, fans mobbed the car. I also saw them out patrolling in the Gallardo in Bologna. They are quite popular and the local Italians are always waving to them it seems. The Italian polize also have Ducati Monster motorcycles. It's good to be in the land of Italian horsepower! I'm still looking for directions to Pagani. Larry |

EVO magazine did a great 12 page article - "Modena: An evo guide" some time ago - this was reprinted in the excellent "Driving Italy's Greatest Supercars" special that came out just before Xmas. I don't know if other countries outsid ethe UK got it, but it is worth picking up. It gives you info on visting all the factories, museums, even where to stay and eat.
It says the Pagani factory is in Catelfranco, 4 miles out of Modena on the Via Amilia in the direction of Bolgona. Look for the Mercedes showroom, turn right in front of it, then head into a small industrial site on your right. Phone: + 39 (0)59 952811. www.paganiautomobili.it Hope this helps. Alan. |

Are the factories far from each other?

While in Bologna for 3 days, I drove to Lamborghini, Pagani and Ducati. I'm sure, being a tourist, I didn't know the quickest way, but I had no trouble getting to each of them. I'd say they are around 10-15 miles apart. Not a stones throw as you sometimes read. For Ferrari, my tour was scheduled for the following week after we had moved on to Milan from Bologna, and I had given up my rental car. So I never attempted to drive to Maranello from Bologna. Instead, I took a train back to Modena from Milan, and then I picked up a taxi at the Modena train station to Maranello. It was lucky I did, as the freeways near Ferrari in Maranello were blocked for some reason, and my native taxi driver knew how to negotiate the detours to get us to the Ferrari gate in time for my scheduled tour. If I had hit the same detours driving myself, I never would have gotten to the Ferrari gate in time. Both Lamborghini and Ferrari are quite impressive when you lay eyes on them for the first time ! Ferrari however is literally a small city ! I could have blown 3 days there too. There are literally little shops all over the place selling Ferrari stuff, and I didn't have the time to check them out. I just had time for the major stuff (factory, restaurant, museum, listening to them test F-1 cars in the Fiorano complex somewhere, watching the entrance to the Ferrari Factory). Interesting, while waiting for a taxi in Modena at the train station, I ran into a lost Lamborghini salesman from a midwest US Lambo dealership ! He had asked the bus ticket person how to get to Lamborghini, and she didn't know. And he didn't know the name of the city that Lamborghini was in. So we put him straight and got him on the right track to Sant Agata. Then on the way back, we ran into a family at the Modena train station trying to figure out if they could make the time to get to Ferrari before continuing their train journey. They had seen the Ferrari bag that I was holding. So we helped them out too. You could probably have a business there, just taking tourists around to the various car places and answering questions. Just put up a Ferrari or Lamborghini Info sign and wait a few minutes ! Larry |

business in it. But the outside of the building still said Mercedes, so Pagani was still using it as a landmark in the directions they gave out. I would call and get directions before I drove there. Larry |
