Default Just did Italia Fest at Moroso Speedway !

I finally got to race my Gallardo! I enjoyed smoking a Ferrari F355 ( he spun out trying to follow my line through a wicked chicane). Two long straights, one with max speeds up to 140 for me, followed by maximum braking for a huge sweeping turn you could not enter at much over 40 or 50mph( hard to say, since you have zero time to watch the speedometer during the end of braking and entering of the turn..this goes on to a whole series of severe turns, before the back stretch, afterwhich the chicane occurs. Actually there are two of them, but the first is the hard one.

The Gallardo is an amazing track machine. I burned through three full tanks of gas, in a days racing, and the car is in perfect shape....except for the tires ..

As to tires, I had to replace the tires just before the race, and could not get Pirelli's anywhere in the time available, and allowed the scumbag at a local tire and wheel store to sell me the Toyo that fits the Gallardo...these are the crappiest tires imaginable--do not ever buy these!!! I am ordering Pirelli tires now. I guess it is just as well I ate up the Toyos, rather than a brand new set of Pirelli tires.

In the turns, I was able to run the Gallardo right at the extreme limit of adhesion, essentially crabbing it slightly in the last half of the turns--it is amazinly controllable, easy to run right on the edge of letting go--the maximum speed of the line you are on in the turn.

Sounds like you had fun

The 355 is a bit older then the Gallardo but im sure the guy was pretty cocky about it before getting pwned

Hope you get your new Pirellis soon

Sounds like an awesome day man!

My brother is going to some thing sponsored by Lotus in Vegas later in the year. Think I might have to follow him there and steal his car for a couple laps!

from what i could recall, late last year, the lotus usa was sponsoring all of the late model buyers to be exposed at the track in nevada. Hit the laguna seca, registre early to track your call during the events. the rolex cup should be comin up soon.

Not sure, I'll talk to my brother about it, I think it is Lotus (not exactly sure on the details, just hear him yammering about it from time to time LOL) only but I'll find out for sure and tell you.

Now I want to find some events where I can race the Gallardo against the Z06 corvette, and the Porsche's ..all the "posers" :-)

Hey Dan, I met you there. I was driving a green SE G. Fun stuff! Props to Jim Kaminski for organizing a first class event. Enjoy the pics.

Hi Bernard, it was nice to meet you..I'm pretty sure you had some of the fastest lap times that day. Did you get passed by the Pro driver from Lamborghini? One minute I thought I was doing great, then all of a sudden, a dark Gallardo blew by me like I was dragging a trailer :-) I found out later about the pro...Anything he drove was suddenly the fastest car on the track...
Regards,
Dan

Hehe, that was Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini factory test driver, the guy in the pic.....Btw, he spun out once, so did the blue Heffner Gallardo TT, which was right behind me when that happened, thank God.... I dunno about being fastest, but it sure was fun to catch up to that blue Stradale and push him for a couple of laps. I had a great time, glad you did too. See you there next year!
