Default Insuring a Gallardo

I just got an 08 Gallardo Spider and GEICO won't insure it, crazy but they insure my Ferrari 360 Spider. Anybody have any ideas where i can get coverage?? Tried Progressive and several other on line companies but to no avail.
Thanks,
Ric

Not sure why Geico wont insure your Gallardo. They insured my previous 08 Gallardo Spyder and they insured my current Murcie. It took them a while though. They are not familiar with the car. You may want to check again.

Not sure why either, took them a while for the Ferrari. I have a couple of other leads I'm going to follow up on and if they don't pan out I'll try the Geko again. maybe I got the caveman rep.

Call Haggerty; they will insure it with a "declared value" policy (which is much safer than an "actual cash value" one).

Hey Ric, glad you sorted it out. Just curious, have you had violations since you first insured the 360? Cars can also change categories according to the NHTSA, so maybe it went above the threshold they are comfortable with. Then again, you be correct in thinking you got the caveman. . .

Nope, no violations, clean record. I asked why and the excuse they gave me was the value was above their current threshold. The Ferrari was 04 and the value was borderline but they took it since I was with them for years. I still have my suv with them but moved everything else.
Most of the basic insurers I talked to who were writing in FL. said the same thing. When it's time to renew I visit the situation again.

just an FYI - i called USAA to get a quote on the one im thinking about buying and while it wasnt an option on their site (ferrari was btw) they did quote me over the phone and although the woman i spoke to had zero clue what the car was, they definitely were willing to insure it.

Last time I spoke to USAA they were not writing new business in FL. Also tried AIG who have been advertising like crazy, 3 phone calls and no return call.
For the life of me I'll never understand why people will not return calls when they can possibly make money.
I'm finished now till renewal next April, can't handle the aggravation and questions anymore. You get to the point your waiting for them to strip search you to qualify .........................

I got 6 months with Geico for $1200. for 6 months, but they told me that they will not renew it becuase they do not insure "in house" these kind of cars. So I went with State Farm and had no probs.
