When you bring a vehicle into Canada you will, in most cases have to pay duty and taxes. For information on federal taxes, contact the Canada Border Services Agency. Please note that the imported vehicles must meet all federal government requirements prior to registration. You may also be required to pay provincial Retail Sales Tax when the vehicle is registered in Ontario.

JAP - Similar law in US... Over 20 years exempt from entry requirements and over 25 years exempt for Dot/Epa. Let's say you import a 90 "anything"... you have to make it meet the specs that were in effect in 1990 for US cars, (not 2005 specs). In the car I was considering it was more than passing smog...different gas tank, fuel lines, brake hoses, convert to OBD2 from OBD1, etc etc.. |

if u can find one here in canada by it here ull see if u buy it there border problems might hold it for extended peroids they dont have to give it to u when u say its when they say emissions as long as its factory should be the same i live in vancouver we go by california emmisions here so if u want to avoid a lot of headaches your probably not going to save much if at all and if its a country away hard to hold some one acountable for problems u have with vehicle these car must be driven for a good road test to find those little problems they have some times i know of a few people who have had nightmares with importing cars from states then some with no problems so beware my two cents

Any car that is 15 years are older can be imported, but once again I was told that lamborghinis can not be imported to Canada unless they are 15 years old or older. |
